I like the project's height. A tower just wouldn't go well in that area around USC. Just look at Westwood. South of the 10 in Fig, I'd just like to see projects that are abouut that height. Keep the skyscrapers north of the 10.
Also, I'm looking forward to the USC Bookstore moving to this development. Finally, a huge bookstore within steps of a Metro Rail stop!
Actually, there are a few large bookstores "within steps" of some Metro rail stops.

Concerto & Hanover (717 Olympic)
Hope all this wasn't too much for you guys...guess I got a bit excited to use my camera today!
Great update. The morning light gives these projects a distinctive glow. It's interesting how the Ritz is already becoming a marker on the skyline in some of those pictures even though it's relatively early in construction.
Uhmmm... based on how the shadows fall, I'd say the photos in LA311's update were taken during late afternoon/early evening.
Yeah, that's evening sun with a morning quality to it.
Great update LA311.
I'm surprised that Evo still has a crane.
And here is a photo LA311 posted in the 717 Ninth thread showing a green fence and equipment next to the small building on Olympic. I'm sure this is for the demo of the small building.

I'd have to disagree with that last statement. The distance between USC and Staples is about a mile. There is enough space between the two for there to be some larger buildings south of the 10 and still have a transition zone before getting to campus. The same way that the 110 drives travels between skyscrapers downtown could definitely work along the Fig part of the 10. Besides, there are already a few large buildings south of the 10 in that area. Washington Blvd could serve as a good limit on larger construction.

I finally got around to updating the first page. I added University Gateway and 426 South Spring. University Gateway will be in the "approved" section until they actually start construction.
And I'll move Hanover to complete when I get a good shot of it. I thought I had one from last Monday, but I must have deleted it.

LA311, that's a great update. I shot an update last Monday myself, and am just now getting around to posting the shots. There a little outdated, but they show some alternate angles.
717 9th
From Grand Hope Park.
Flower street side.
Concerto
I know someone already posted this view, but I couldn't resist. Concerto and 717 Ninth will make a significant impact from this vantage point. Now if they could only do something about the foreground...
Evo
They're still working on the crown and lifting heavy stuff up there, which is why the crane's still there. Notice the railings on the corner balconies.
LA Live
The west side that faces the Residences at the Ritz.
AT&T Center
First peek at the new crown.
LAPD Headquaters
That glass went up quick.
I really like how this building completely changes depending on where you view it. It's like a different building on each side.
