interesting!
The Canada Line figure is incorrect. The project is costing $2.05 billion.....that should put it in second place, not third.

Odd that the trellises are black when the lampposts are gray...

I thought that was odd too - and what's even more weird is that it was gray originally (as shown in my previous photo). Exact same location, different perspectives:

The lamp post appears to be unpainted, could be a test unit to see how it looks and it'll be painted black later.

I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that the station platforms seem to be too short?

Just wondering.

You think they're a bit short? I'm quite sure everyone on this forum will agree that 40 metres is more than enough for future growth.

Welcome Punkster. Just to let you know, don't ever mention the short platforms or else Mr.x2 will go CRAZY. Yes the platforms are short, 40m as opposed to our SkyTrain platforms with 80m. Unfortunately they are only expandable to max. 50m.

Welcome again

Wow... it's almost like someone trolling... Here mr.x2, here mr.x2...

If you do a quick search for 40m, short platforms, and "at capacity", 90% of the results will be this thread.

These are the first pictures I've seen of the underground to overground transition. The grade looks pretty steep.

Other than the platform lengths, the stations are actually looking pretty good.

The roofs of Aberdeen, Lansdowne, and soon Brighouse look like something from a furniture store, more specifically Ikea. Hopefully, Marine Drive won't be the same. Templeton and Sea Island are alright. Bridgeport is dismal. YVR is pretty spectacular. And we don't really know anything about the underground stations yet.

Yea, they're a bit short.....[holds breathe in]....

.....but blame it on the lack of funding, the Olympic deadline, and short sightedness on the region's long-term demands.

With that said, it should be alright for the short-term. The platforms and trains are around 40-metres long, with the trains holding a capacity of 334 passengers (screw the 400 passenger figure, we don't use the crush load capacity figure for SkyTrain anyway...I highly doubt 400 is possible in this city). 334 passengers is equivalent to a four-car Mark I train that runs on SkyTrain today. And when the platforms are extended to 50-metres, you can add another car's worth of capacity - extending the train length beyond 50-metres.
