I don't think they are selling it unlocked through retail.

apple will be unveiling the iphone in canada sometime this summer - i imagine it will be priced similiar to the states for the phone itself

they are pretty good at pricing their product close to or the same as the states

Wouldn't advise you to get it now: iPhone 2 coming up. Even if you don't care about iPhone 2, at least wait until it gets announced so that stores must lower there prices. Might as well wait for Rogers too: presdient of rogers confirmed it already and there is speculation of lower plan rates.

I wouldn't advise you to get an iPhone altogether and get jap phones =D *dreams about SH906i [not announced yet]*

Easycell has an unlocked iPhone for $650. i'm not sure if it's "factory unlocked" or "self software unlocked"

Hehe, yes the Japanese phones are so superior to every phone ever released in America. I have the SH904i with NTT DoCoMo and it can do so much　more than you would ever think possible... bar code reader, tilt sensitive (like Wii, for playing games), GPS, camera, facial recognition security, the ability to load it up with Suica and Edy to pay for trains (and vending machines, and items at stores that accept Edy by tapping the sensor), and more. The iPhone will supposedly be released in Europe (and probably later in Asia) as a 3G phone capable of playing live TV, GPS, and all the standard features that you really cant live without. Also the next version of the iPhone is supposed to be released in White, Black, and possibly Crimson Red. Good old Apple, replacing their products as soon as you finally buy one.

As of 7:50 this morning, there were only 5 people in line on Granville.

Went there at around 2:30, tons of people there and long line-ups. Not as busy as I thought it would be though....i had imagined that there would be long lineups the entire day just to get in like at other cities.

Prices are ridiculously low....they're le chateau quality, only half the price or even less.

I think they have slightly better than le chateau. Whatever, the point is: they are nice and cheap =)

I'm guessing the next big thing for Pacific Centre is the addition of Abercrombie and Fitch. Oh, Canada Line will be their big thing too. Did Holt Renfrew cafe open yet?

i went twice - it was nuts around 2 pm less nuts but still packed at 8:30 pm

the gap was crickets - i don't think they had any customers

miss sixty and energie are opening between H&M and Apple

pac centre will be pretty psycho on saturday i imagine - with H&M word spreading and the apple store opening - i overheard a number people on robson wonder aloud where the H&M was - how could anyone be so oblivious to the opening - lol

and at lougheed town centre station two retail spots are opening soon - a cafe and a little shop in the station - looks like they have lost some ticket machines for the cafe

Costco opens new location at Still Creek

Burnaby's second Costco has opened in Willingdon, celebrating its grand opening on Thursday.

The new Costco located on Still Creek Drive is 148,000 square feet in size and is bigger than the one on Brighton Avenue. It replaces the Grandview Highway Costco in Vancouver.

"It's close to 50 per cent bigger than the Grandview one, and it's significantly brighter," said Costco spokesperson Ron Damiani. "The Grandview one was one of the smallest, if not the smallest, in Canada."

When construction first started on the new site last year, there were concerns that the clearcutting of trees in the area to make room for the Costco and nearby Keg would create problems in an area known as the largest crow roost in the province. More than 20,000 crows congregate in the Still Creek area every night.

Damiani said there was some "wetland mitigation and buffering" done, but he didn't provide details by press time.

However, the new Costco warehouse has lots of natural lighting, and the company has always tried to minimize its impact on the environment, Damiani explained.

"For many, many years we've been compacting and selling cardboard and plastic wrap," Damiani said. "Before it was the fashionable thing to do.

"We're very shy, we don't go out and talk about what we do. The members see what we do."

The existing Brighton Avenue Costco has been open since October 1985 and will remain open.

The site of the Grandview Costco will be the location of a new Wal-Mart.

Costco Wholesale operates 536 warehouses worldwide, including 75 in Canada.

looks like SAVE ON FOODS has snagged the Kind Edward Village grocery spot. Interestings seeing there will be a SAVE ON down at Nanaimo and Kingsway.

I'm not sure there will still be a Save-On at The hills location, from what I heard Save-On got tired of waiting and pounced on the KEV location. Who knows maybe the T&T that was scheduled for KEV will move into The Hills now.

As a former Grandview-Costco shopper I was happy to see the new one finally open. It is a few minutes further away, but much better. A lot like the new downtown location.

I had originally heard the Brighton Costco was also going to close. Was that plan changed or am I crazy?
