Wow, the last time I went past the Target RC was just a flat plain with caisson drilling going on.

I thought it went all the way to the river. Is the parkinglot across Wells going to be a different phase, or will that be some completely separate future project?

I assume you're asking about the parking lots across Wells, not Clark. Those properties are owned by a different developer. The one furthest South, next to Roosevelt, is just an area we rented to store material.

On another note: Some South Loop updates.
We went snooping at models at 1400 Michigan. They said some units are actually occupied.
It looks like Michigan Tower II is topped out. They are taking down the concrete forms.
There hasn't been ANY activity at Glashaus in several weeks.

kayosthery, do you know who's going to finish and pave Wells? It needs basic pavement, sewers, curbs, and sidewalks.... Is that Centrum's responsibility, or the city's?

EDIT: never mind. CDOT is doing the work, their website has details. I was worried that Wells would be built without sidewalks like some suburban access drive, but it will be built to full city standards for a 2-lane street, with sidewalks, lampposts, and everything. The pavement even widens at Taylor to allow for left turns onto the planned bridge. Work is planned to be done by winter.

2ND EDIT: CDOT, being generous, provided technical drawings on their website of the Wells Street Project. They show that the concrete for sidewalks won't actually be poured, but crushed limestone will be laid on the sides and compacted to allow for sidewalks to be built in the future. Maybe they don't want to actually pour sidewalks until construction on Roosevelt Collection is finished, to avoid damage to the concrete and to give some storage room for the contractors?

That bridge will be a nice addition to a choked off section of the neighborhood. Plus having Wells finished now will make developing South of Roosevelt a little more attractive. Too bad Tony Resco (sp?) is the owner and he won't be doing anyting with it for quite some time.

I'm not a huge collection fan from a planning perspective, but you've got to admire the scale of it, in terms of how it will change the dynamic of the south loop for better or worse, or a bit of both.

Oh, and for the McClurg Ct. towers, since those are rental, are those expected to get started once they're approved? Was any schedule announced?

You're right. The east side still isn't complete. I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it.

From what I have heard the contractor doing the windows on that building is getting them from China so there could be issues with the long distance delivery or possibly some testing requirements related to QA/QC. Chalk it up to hearsay if I'm wrong about that, but it's what has tumbled along the grapevine.

Supposedly he was bought out by his buddy Nadhmi Auchi of General Mediterranean Holdings and did use some of the money to pay his bond. Not that having Auchi in control of the land makes things any better . . .

YoChicago is reporting that contstruction has begun on 1349 South Wabash....has anyone been by the site recently, to verify this?
