Not sure where the Elton John stories started however, a quick check at his confirmed concert dates http://www.eltonjohn.com/concerts/ reflects he is booked from now til the end of the year and not one date even planned for Canada. I checked with a promotor at Donald K Donald in Montreal and they informed me "it's all a rumour".

it was on CTV a few weeks ago. He will end up playing in Saint John, Moncton and Halifax,
you'll see....

I went to Rocca's presentation tonight. It was wonderful. I think the design looks great. There are six designs meant to attract a diversity of people. The integration of park space is great.

Tickets for an Elton John concert in Halifax were actioned off last month at the David Foster event. So I think you're right there will be a concert in Halifax, Saint John and Moncton.

I have to say, after seeing the steel go up, the cruise ship terminal seems like a good development. Even if its not the most well appointed building, it is good to think something on the waterfront will be good for port business and won't be blocking the new Rocca condos.

I went by the cruise ship terminal the other day and I was shocked by the size of it. It really did not look that large in any of the renderings that I saw. The terminal combined with the two new condo buildings is going to completely change that section of Water street. Pretty cool!

Well let's see, first of all the thugs were about 1/3 of the audience and even when Court sounded like a complete idiot they cheered. Hooton supporters were ust as bad and it seemed like every question she would throw in lowering the tax rate. Norm ask her what her specific plan was she had none but norm did. Ferguson actually did a pretty good job, he even called Court out on his ethics and court went bright red in the face.

Richardson had a lot of fire but sounded like a broken record. He did understand tax rates quite well.

Norm seemed to be extremely depressed, he came out firing but He seemed helpless up there, He had conrete plans for every topic that came up and people would jeering be just to boo, until Hooton said Mcfarlane threatened her behind closed doors. It seems that alot of people are easily brainwashed by the paper and special interest groups.

I noticed today while out for a bike ride that there is some site work going on behind the current Bentley Crossing phases. This would indicate to me that they will be putting units on the opposite side of the street soon.

That looks impressive. Lets hope the real thing is something similar.

I notice their site says "Saint John is poised to become the next Calgary". As a native Saint Johner and a resident of Calgary, I have mixed feeling about that statement

They had this rendering and the street elevations at the focus group. The public space shown in the above photos is really nice and there are supposed to be others too. It looks like a first class project.

anything on that site is better than the old pugsley warehouses
the skeleton of the cruise terminal is larger than i thought it would be; even if it's not a shining beacon / attraction on the waterfront, it does serve as a very current & visible reminder that the city is on the move and this is the forst of a series of highly visible changes / additions to come....

good and bad news there - good that the poverty rate in general is falling (keeping in mind, of course that many of the homeless are not inckuded in these stats); the last sentence or two suggests that there is some inceased density of poverty starting to happen...

the poverty line, to the best of my knowledge, is a shade over 20K (before taxes) according to statscan
