Kamin has a mini review (reviewlet?) out today on MoMo:

THE SKYLINE
by Blair Kamin

April 25, 2008
---
Joffrey's MoMo tower: Even with some no-no's, it's mostly a go-go
Some day soon, you’ll be able to stand at the corner of State and Randolph and see lithe ballet dancers pirouetting in the practice rooms of the new 31-story condo high-rise where the Chicago-based Joffrey Ballet will have its headquarters. But don’t forget to check out the building. It has just the right muscle and mix of uses for State Street, even if it’s too squat to match the graceful dancers who will perfect their art inside.....

I heard it is being renovated as much more upscale. Supposedly the demand is there. (Or was when they planned it - - I forget the developer). But don't quote me

From the rendering on Emporis (http://www.emporis.com/en/il/im/?id=374997), I think that facade will come out nicely, when all is said and done. I agree that on close-up inspection, the effect leaves something to be desired. I think this will look best taken as a whole.

Speaking of updates, 469 West Huron can be moved from site prep/demo to cancelled and shouldn't Waterview be moved to On-hold?

I agree that it's going to look great. But, as usual, I think your comment is quite extreme. It takes a whole lot to become one of the greatest buildings in Chicago.

staybridge suites is horrible my god. It wouldn't be so bad if the building were in the middle of the block and the sides would be covered up by other buildings.

Seriously. Hyperbole is a stylistic device to be employed selectively for maximized effect. When you use it as a default reaction your comments become meaningless.
