It's several different colors actually. And there aren't any white lights, for some reason the camera picked up some of the lighter colors as being more white. If I remember right, the colors fade from red, blue and dark pink/fuchsia.

Its a residential/commercial street. The lower areas are dominated by office buildings/office parks. About halfway up the 'mountain' there is an office park with a large parking lot. From there you can simply park your car at the edge of the lot and admire the view. Farther up Shep Mt, it becomes strictly residential, with some mansions at the top. However, there are several spots along the "lake-downtown" side of Courtyard Drive where there is open space (grassy area, that drops off beyond). Park your car along the EB side of the street (about 4/5's to the top of the Mt) and start snapping away. There are no homes or obstructions in this particular segment of Courtyard Drive. You have a great view to the north (Bull Creek valley, Arboretum) and south/east (Lake Austin, Pennybacker Bridge, Mt Bonnell and downtown).

Wow, there's a lot of construction going on in West Campus area. A lot of it's not apparent because it's mostly 3-4 stories. This is the first time I've been through that area in a while, it's crazy how much stuff is going on.

I was told from my boss that the W is suppost to break ground next week. He was one of the people that paid well over a thousand dollars for a table at the ground breaking party back in Oct.

Judging by the height of the one crane in the middle of the neighborhood, it looks like they're about to build a 15-20 story... I wonder why it took so long for more high rise development around UT. They have been starving for housing like forever.

Hey Shanny, those are awesome pictures (from the Frost Bank Tower). Can you post a link to the original photo album? I'd love to see if there's anymore pictures like those in that album.

Look at how short 301 Congress appears in the lower left corner in that first shot. Even though it's 306 feet tall, it looks like a stump compared to Frost.

The crane you refer to is for "21 Rio". It is to be 21 floors tall. The high and mid rise building you are witnessing in west campus is a reaction to zoning changes that took place a few years ago that changed the density for the area.
