Actually, Vancouver is worldly renowned for being a modern glass city. The glass forms the foundation's of Vancouver's unique style of architecture, much the same the cladding of gothic style architecture in Chicago represents that city's unique style. Glass cladding is used extensively in modern buildings because it's cheap and flexible, however Vancouver does use a trasparant color tone that is over-used. It's not ugly, but black or dark navy blue glass should be considered to break up the consistency.
