Yeah, I mean, wtf is that bullshit? Imitation Lagrange? Are they going for that faux stone look? Aged newsprint perhaps? "Bone white"? Is pigmented concrete prohibitively expensive or something? I DON'T UNDERSTAND?????

I mean, if they HAD to paint it, and they didn't want to acknowledge the fact that their balls have indeed descended and go with a bold color, why not some kind of brilliant white???? That'd look kind of nice??

Exactly, that building is going to look hideous. (and) wait till they paint the

top blue, that color is not a good choice for a (relatively) nice looking building.

Im thinking and thinking, they should just have lefted bare, but then again, we have to see the (finished) product.

Is Allure going to stay two-toned? If so, cigarette ash and Reagan-era newspaper are horrible color choices.

They are taking down the sidewalk barrier at 550 St. Clair and it looks super dope. That plain podium actually looks pretty dope now. Especially at night when they have it lit with a blinding white line along the cracks at the edge. The street level interaction, which had been previously hidden behind the barriers looks really good as well.

By Gina Kenny
CHICAGO-Construction is expected to begin this summer on the one-million-sf mixed-use development at the site of the former New City YMCA, at the corner of Halsted Street and Clybourn Avenue. A joint venture between Structured Development LLC, based here, and Commonfund Realty Inc., based in Wilton, CT, are developing the NewCity project. The development is expected to cost $270 million, says Jeffrey Berta, director of program management for Structured Development.
