No, you just need to say something about how these revolutionized skyscrapers if you are going to refute what Just-in-cali is saying.

^ It's nice to see that they're doing something to light up 717 Olympic, because I was in downtown last week at night and that building looked really akward being the only finished building no to be lit.

Has anyone else noticed that the Ritz-Marriot building is an almost identical design as 1180 Peachtree in Atlanta, including being almost the exact same height?

Are any of these buildings you so painstakingly listed actually considered "skyscrapers" in this day and age? Also, Chicago was doing the precursor of the modern skyscraper as far back as 1885, and is so known as the "Birthplace of the Skyscraper." What do any of these buildings have on anything in, say, Chicago, for example? Please understand, I would take L.A. over Chicago any day of the week, but what are you saying here? What makes any of these buildings so "revolutionary?"

Yet the Ritz-Marriot is an L-shaped building where as 1180 Peachtree is not.

I meant no ill towards you JD, I was simply saying as far as skyscrapers go, Los Angeles isnt a linchpin in the history like Chicago, NY or even Hong Kong are. The buildingss you listed might be historical structures, but have little to do with the inclusion of the skyscraper into the social fabric.

In other news,
I was wondering if they were building both Concerto towers at the same time, or they were doing one after the other?

My understanding is that Tower 1 plus the 7 story structure are going up as Phase 1, with Tower 2 to follow sometime later as Phase 2.

Was I talking about "this day and age"?

Of course Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper. It started with the Home Insurance Building. And of course there is San Francisco, New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia.

My clear point is that Los Angeles began building 10-15 story buildings before many cities of the United States did.
