In reference to the stated fact in Solarwinds's pictures the top floor was bare and appeared to "cleaning up for shutdown". The pictures I posted were from the 11th of April as well, but from around 3:30 and they were actively hoisting more rebar up to the top floor which is visible in the northeast corner of the current floor plate in my picture. I understand the alarm as far as the financing situation is currently in "limbo" for all that we outsiders know. I will have a REAL camera with me tomorrow and have some pics posted by tomorrow evening. I'm not going to get into the discussion of financing or inner circle knowledge as I have none, but I'll be happy to continue to take pics from the office I work at and post whatever progress or lack thereof that occurs in the coming weeks. Maybe I'll bring my bullhorn and ask the guys working up there tomorrow why they're working without pay?! haha This has personally been my favorite building of the boom (I might be indicted for this but even more so than the spire) and I would love to purchase a unit there in the future, sure would be convenient for me. Maybe I'll stop in the sales center tomorrow too and see if I can get more than a line of sales BS fed to me and a nice brochure of what could have been. Speculation from so called "industry insiders" not involved in the project, or those who might be involved in competing projects can be taken with a grain of salt in my opinion. That's capitalism right? I guess that's the beauty of an online forum!

....so will you lose your deposit if WT fails ? .I thought that the deposit money was put into escrow by the developer ? ......apparently not !

My deposit in escrow, and I get my money back in the event the project does not get completed. But it is a little more complicated than that. I have no comment beyond that.

Did you see what company they were for? Were these Adjustable Forms employees?

My money is in there with Budman's, and has been for close to 4 years. It is an interest bearing escrow account that pays peanuts. At the end of the day though, I want to be in this building. Being an "early adopter" of this project is frustrating at times needless to say, even when the program may deserve a good bashing every now and then.

Concrete Pump Has been Removed!!!

Oh no - or maybe not.

They have taken the concrete pump off of the top of the core. All morning they
have been using the crane to take supplies and loose stuff off of the top of the core.

The concrete pump arm assembly is sitting on the top of the last floor completed. It is no longer on the core.

Now, this may mean that they are getting ready to reconfig the core. I honestly have no idea.

My vantage point is looking out to the north from 161 North Clark.

They will remove all the core forms this week for the planned reconfiguration due to the transfer floor. There is another deck that needs to be poured but without jumping the crane they would lose area to "lay out" the core assembly.

Hey guys, the site is active again this morning.... Good news, portable toilet is still there..... haha It looks to me as if they are working on the core reconfiguration, prolly similar to what we seen across the street at Kirkland and Ellis' new place.

You're absolutely right. I'm not sure what I would do if I was in your situation. Point conceded.

April 14 - Lunch

Concrete pump head coming down

and going out ( for now ), I remind myself that this stuff is periodically overhauled, and at this location there wouldn't be room to work on it on-site.

To dispel the rumors, Waterview has no intention to build anything other than its current 90 story "iconic" design."

In other words, securely mothball the project while waiting for more money. The "intention" remains even if construction progress is suspended.
(First let me say I know that dissecting this is totally irrelevant because it's most likely PR-speak, but I thought I'd address it anyway)

The interpretation you've placed on that is, linguistically, not very accurate. It is a possible interpretation however, even within the context of shaky financing, the much more likely and intended meaning is that they will work together to keep those with deposits in and the public at large confident in the chances of the project completing, completing close to on time, and completing at the level of quality of workmanship promised to everyone.

There are two cues that support my assertion:

1) "continue to work together" - this implies that the work that will proceed is similar to the work that that preceeded the announcement.

2) "the integrity and quality of the project" - this implies that they are talking about the process, and not the physical structure. If they meant what you assert they mean, the more proper word would be "building" or "structure" or even "tower." Even the use of the word "work" would be more open to your interpretation than the word "project" is.

My 2 cents.

The problem with that thought is any contractor worth his weight would have set a new pump to be installed as the old one was coming down. Time is money and not having a pump on site would be like letting money fly out the window.

Oh...wait...this project doesn't have any money...my bad.

Not necessarily true if they are going to be spending a few days getting forms set up for the newly configured floor plates...

A friend of mine works across the river from WV. He reports that today they were installing new column forms. If they are putting up forms I would assume that they plan to fill them with concrete. If the pump is gone I imagine they'll use buckets, which have been used on this project in conjunction with the pump all along.

Buckets must be cheaper then using the pump. Maybe it's a money saving tactic.

Pump

I don't know a lot about concrete pumps, but I'll vote with Harry on the overhauling.
