--Those were my first thoughts as well... Usually, one sees a floor that's partly a pour, partly framed, and partly still at rebar. The two "clean site" pics are also suspicious.

Oh please please let this building get finished! Its susch a beautiful building and its condos are unmatched anywere! I hope this does not turn into another RAY CHIN horror ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is too much to lose here and I want to see this execute to its finale the way it was INTENDED to look ! Not shortened!!!! not altered!!!!! not redesigned!!!!!!!!!!!! not a parking structure!!!!!!!!!!!! not a cheezy chain hotel (i.e. Marriot) !!!!! Please please!!!! deserving architecture derserves a shining MOMENT!!!

on the center right (the horizon in the background), I am guessing those are storm clouds on the horizon, but it seriously looks like a mountain range to me.

...well, we'll all hear (one way, or the other) in the newspaper VERY SOON.......this project is way too big to stop without getting huge press.........I'd recommend that all foremers say some extra "Waterview prayers" at church tomorrow !!!

The first shot was in the morning, the next two at lunchtime. In the afternoon, they were pouring the core of the 27th floor. The site has been very active this past week.

The barren floor plate does look strange. But, with the transfer floor coming up and a reconfiguration of the typical floor plate, it seems logical to me that they would clean up. There isn't any room left on this site to have extra materials lying around.

With the tedium of the transfer floor nearly upon us, it seems like the ideal time for the rumor mill to crank into full swing. If this is the case, you really have to wonder who would desire to do such a thing. Offended contractors? Competing projects? Agitated forumers on the edge of their seats?

Its helps to take a core apart after a poured position, which is supposed to happen now anyway. The question would be if the new configuration gets assembled in a couple of weeks. Also another sign to look for if progress is to continue would be that crane jumping up.

Wow. I've been gone a few days and missed the bad news. This is very disappointing. And to those who say the city or the mayor would never let an unfinished concrete hulk sit in that prime spot, I have three words: block thirty seven. Don't count on any sort of public bailout. Chicago residents would be fuming if their tax money went into building multimillion-dollar condos and a luxury hotel.

I hope someone reads this before it gets deleted (my "wild speculation" several days ago that work was going to be temporarily halted was deleted...) Some speculation here again:

Maybe someone with structural engineering experience and a little knowledge of this building could comment on what might be going on now? Is it possible that, for the long-term stability and safety of the finished concrete work, that the transfer floor must be completed? In other words, if this structure utilizes the core and outrigger system, can the dozen or so floors above the parking structure be left swaying in the brisk Chicago breezes long-term without the support of the transfer floor? Seems like they'd never get permits even to use structure for temporary public parking if the structure was left half-assed incomplete.

So, if they already have to finish concrete work to the roof of the hotel portion or else tear the hulk down, it seems like a viable alternative may be to complete the hotel portion and resume the condo tower in a few years when the market improves.

Why are people so defensive about this? There's no reason to shout down people who have heard some things that sound negative, or don't think it's gonna work out. Just hope for the best and keep your eyes peeled.

Some of you see to figuratively be covering your eyes and singing while people offer alternative opinions. Grow up. Calm down.

Extremely unlikely. The floors built now are not "swaying" in the wind much. You would want to recheck everything, but that outrigger is not necessary with this short and stocky structure. It is required due to the slenderness and height of the tower portion and the wind loads that will be on it.

I think I would rather have a view of the river from my bedroom window rather than my pool. Something has to go back there, and it can't be residences.

Here is a link to the plan of the amenity level for the residences, which is on floor 28 (you are looking at floor 26). The pool faces west and has a view of the river (and the LaSalle-Wacker building, and vice-versa - that should be interesting).

I am guessing that the pit you are seeing is the pool for the hotel. Some hotel pools do not even have windows, but can be very successful (see the Medina Athletic Club pool in the Intercontinental on Michigan Avenue, for instance).

It is very obvious in looking at this last picture that this job is shutting down, whether its forever or temporary, it is shutting down. That is in fact the pool for the Hotel you are seeing in case thier was any doubt. All materials (forms, lumber, tool boxes, outhouses etc) have been taken off the deck for safety reasons. During the shutdown, you don't want anything "temporary" on the roof unsecured for fear that it could come loose. You can also tell looking at the tower crane that they can not building anymore floors or core structure until that crane "jumps" again, and I don't think we are going to see that anytime soon. They are still a few floors short of the transfer floor, and I bet there is concern about whether or not they can afford to make it that far. As for the glass that everyone has discussed, it is in fact in a wharehouse in Bolingbrook that was supplied by Teng. However, what hasn't been said yet is that there are only 18 floors of glass in storage and the manufacturer has stopped production and won't make anymore unless payments are made. So regardless of whether they make the transfer floor, they can't enclose the building completely. Also, you will notice that only a small amount of the "clips" for the glass installation have been installed, this is because the installer has left the job, again, due to lack of payment according to my source. So, I think it is safe to say that in the short term, this job is going to go extremely slow, if not stop completely until some sort of cash infusion happens. If this job continues to be built and continues to drain cash and capital from Teng, that will be the end of not only the WaterView development, but also of Teng. It will for sure be interesting to watch this unfold. In the meantime, don't hold your breath waiting for activity.
