I continue to be very frustrated with some of my fellow forumers. Trust me when I tell you...that some of us know for a fact that this project is on better financial footing "today" than some other projects in this city. We also know that the press has been hard at work exagerating the sub-prime loan problem thus making it a real issue...even though it is such a small part of our economy. So Roeder is just squealling like a pig....trying to get his contract renewed in the newspaper world, which is factually in a financial downspin.

whoa....I wouldnt go that far. The sub prime crisis is a very real issue, and probably will be responsible for a recession in the US this year. Ask cities like Miami and Vegas if its a real issue there. There are tons of projects canceled or have just stopped. Chicago has been lucky so far. We havent had that many cancelations or stoppages. Lets just hope it stays that way.

Hey guys, I hope this works, this is my first time posting pictures! These were from about an hour ago from one of the offices here in our building, as you can see the amount of rebar piling up is substantial, there were at least 25 workers on site at all times IN MY VIEW! Especially at about 3:00. You can see in the final picture they are actively welding around the core, transfer floor reconfiguration??

Going off subject...never denied there is a down turn....but 5 years from now we will find out it was a way smaller portion of the problem we are having now. Lots of other things including horrible press are making this worse than it has to be. Only reason I brought it up here was because of my statements about poor poor poor press...especially when it concerns Roeder.

This project would have had issues even in a great market. Now that will be ironed out and the building will continue to go up.

I've been so busy the last few days that I haven't even had time to think about this project, good to see there's good news.
My wife set me to remodeling the bathroom. Turns out, when you're ripping out a tile floor, you're too tired to worry about anything else.

Look at the pictures closer, those are of a concrete contractor demobing. Lets see pour a massive floor and then not frame it, no one would ever leave a building in a unsafe condition intentionally, you have to secure the place. Those are pictures of the superstructure coming to a grinding halt. While this may only be temporary and no one would ever want things like this to happen on any project I would have to go with what I see in the pics that where posted. If you where a contractor on a transfer floor with approx 2000 cubic yds to pour over the next couple of weeks you would not do it in that fashion. While no way personally involved with that project or ever talking to someone on site, I have worked for that contractor and the people running the concrete many years ago and they did not operate that way then or now. They are Highrisers and whats going on in those pics is not construction.

A batch of cages was lofted ( up ) today (Friday Apr 11) around noon.
The pump was active after that, and was still pumping at 4:30pm.

Time will tell.
