^^^ Yeah, no one seems to get that more regulations on housing and developers = higher housing costs = higher cost of living = everyone gets screwed.

Kudos to BVic and the others who are actively shaping urban growth ... don't underestimate your impact.

I feel the parking ratio should be >1 per person - but should not be limited to AutoMobiles. The good lord gave us a profoundly flat city, ideal for bicycles.

If Ald Fioretti had eveyone give their address, I think he is a reader of this forum. Who else (besides neighbors,developers,lawyers) would show up to those meeting but SSP geeks? He reads post that advocate attending these hearings, he wants to ID those SSP rabel rousers to discredit their input.

He's not an idiot, he's an anti-urban A-hole. Big difference. It's a shame the immoral framework of mob rule and aldermanic tyranny over development decisions in this city appears to be the norm for the next several years.

At least I didn't get booed here like I did up in Evanston

These peopole are total parking whores.

Next time I plan on asking if people knew of the parking conditions before they moved there. 1 guy thought the towers were too tall that noone else should be able to move into the 'hood'.

^What I can't understand is why people complain about lack of parking. . . I pay for parking where I live here in the Loop. . . it's expensive. . . I don't drive all that often - don't really need the car - but feel it's a luxury that I'm willing to pay for. . . outside of rush hour, traffic in downtown Chicago is quite reasonable as well. . . it's always amazing to me that people will find any reason to complain. . . the east side NIMBYs are just as bad (we have like NO traffic problems) and they think this new Children's Museum is going to create all sorts of traffic and parking problems. . . I'm completely dumbfounded at times by this assertion. . . people must have lots of time on their hands to find new things to complain about. . .

sorry for the rant. . . back to the boom rundown. . . oh yeah. . . I like these buildings. . .

I like it, simple yet funky. It is incredible how many bad bases there are out there when you compare them to this building. Its not just a Chicago phenomenon, its a global one.

Do you know the planned parking ratio? For some reason 0.97:1 is sticking out in my head, I'm not sure why. Do you know the total commercial square footage, or an approximate planned unit mix/total? e.g. mostly smaller/larger units, etc.

Building height and # of units
Phase 1 is 590 feet and 387 units; 417 accessory parking spaces and 301 nonaccessary (North)

Phase 2 is 690 feet and 370 units (South)

Office Space – 200,000 sq. ft.

Retail Space - 9000 sq. ft (street level)

130 spaces for bike storage and IGO plans in process

Is it just me or has SOAR become a lot more reasonable lately. I agreed with them on the parking issue for the Waldforf AStoria building, put it underground, they aprrove of the Spire, they approve of this building which I think looks fantastic, and some other ones that I can remember.
