Ark, it had slipped my mind that YOU are involved with this project. I have been wanting to ask if the exterior of the classic looking buildings will be brick?

The majority of the exterior treatment is brick.
There will also be cast stone at the retail level.
The cornice trim and the signage panels will be EIFS.

I hope that this project will lead to many more being created in the classic styles. I think people now understand that this type of design will always look good and never be outdated. I'm very glad to hear they will also be using brick and stone.

Its not quite the same as stucco, but is basically a foam backed, stucco-like exterior finish system.

Most commercial buildings that you would think of as stucco are probably EIFS.

Nice building! I agree completely. Who knows what people will think of the latest fad in architecture 20 years from now. How many buildings constructed in the 1970s look good today? But the Parthenon, after thousands of years . . . still a classic.

Ah, Projects, you do have a wit, which I envy...Come to think of it, a sculpture garden, in the SLC Arts District, with works of art exemplifying all areas of the valley, would be a fine addition. I saw some construction there recently and was wondering what was going on. This project is so much nicer when you consider what is there now:

As for the 900 S and State remodel I too like the updated, cleaned look of the building. That could help bring some new or upgraded businesses to that neighborhood or simply bring more business to the businesses that may be staying.

Ah! I knew something was up. I was there the other night and everything seemed really weird. The optical center moved - the pharmacy seemed really far away - and the cat food was in it's own corner of the store.

I think they'd have plenty of room for more furniture - but it looks like they'd rather fill it with more food. Which is cool by me. I mean, you can't eat an easy chair - but Cheese-Its? Pretty tasty, IMO.

They've probably seriously considered a furniture center, but the housing market being as crazy as it is right now, who knows. I know my nephew who was set to manage an 'as yet to be built Home Depot in the area,' was told it will be delayed for a year until housing gets back on it's feet. Anyway, they're just going to keep him in Tucson for now.
