I dont recall this project in the South Loop. Thought I'd forward on the info...

Rendering in story

http://www.nearwestgazette.com/Archive/2008/0408/News0404.htm

"The South Loop community is scrutinizing two rental residential towers planned for the southwest corner of Clark and Polk Sts. amid objections about the builder’s construction system. The development is among three complexes going up within four blocks along Clark St. and will be located in between Terrapin’s residential property already underway on the northwest corner of Clark and Polk Sts. and Amli’s development on Clark between Polk and the Target store."

Fioretti feels more than one parking space is needed per unit and noted he is working with several other area aldermen to schedule an April hearing about parking and traffic.
What an ass. If someone on the forum hears more details about this planned hearing, please let us know. The issue of downtown parking ratios is vitally important to the future character of our downtown... and enforcing >1:1 would be a disaster and is indefensible.

^Its a contradiction to try and address traffic and allow more parking. Where did Fioretti learn his Math and logic skills?

Echelon at K Station

April 7, 2008

Is it Echelon or Allure? I can't keep these straight. The paint job is horrible. The building loses all its texture and looks incredibly cheap in my opinion.

Echelon. I saw the paint today too and can only imagine how bad it will look once the whole building is painted.

I agree. Is a 1:1 ratio even common in highrises anywhere? what is he thinking?

Thanks, spyguy. I have some pictures of the site directly east of Echelon, but I'll post those tomorrow. I forget the names of the two towers. They're currently driving sheet piling. The caisson work looks like it's done.

ARGH!. It looks fine as is! Save the money and don't paint it!

(unless the paint is used as a sealant?)

Wow, you guys are really spoiled in Chicago when all you have to do is complain about the paint job on an otherwise decent bldg. I guess I truly don't get it because I think 'echelon' looks just fine. I wish we had those 'problems' in my city. Jeez....

Another project cancelled. Not a big loss though.

Why do you like this plain box and dislike all the towers in the other picture?
