You know guys,
After yesterday "Bitch fest" over something stupid has bought out alot of people's true colors on here. And I ask myself why do I want to hang out with alot of assholes? People on here tell me what I should or should not like. Telling me what threads I should or should not start. I'm not going to bring up any names, but you know who you are. Fuck that, I'm done with this.
You guys can just keep on being bitter and angry and butthurt over ANY project that isn't downtown. And then talk down to those who don't agree with your views.

Hey Projects, I don't know if my comment was one of the ones that offended you but I was not trying to look down on anyone or tell anyone what to think, I was simply stating my opinion. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion and discuss, and even argue; often times I find myself flip-flopping on issues because people on opposite sides of an issue can both make good, rational points. The problem is when people start getting personal about it, and I can see how some recent comments could offend and be taken as personal attacks. so come on everyone, lets show each other a little R E S P E C T, sock it too me, sock it too me...

SLC Projects for the record none of my comments were meant personal, they were just me voicing my opinion on why I think the way I do about certain projects. I am always open to hear what another viewpoint may be, and hope that you didn't take anything I said personal, I am just an in your face type of guy when I debate. ... So leave if you want, but their are those of us here who truly enjoy your company and insights!

Yeah, yeah--the Proscenium looks kinda cool. But as other people have said, it will stick up like a sore thumb. It'd be like someone building a 300-foot Tower out by the 2nd Municipal Airport in West Jordan. That would clash with all the rest of the city and surrounding area, and the Proscenium would probably do the same in Sandy.

I think that this idea should be moved to downtown Salt Lake. Salt Lake's skyline could use the growth. And having such a project rivaling City Creek would be kinda interesting to see.

I'm thinking Provo and Ogden would be better to grow height-wise before Sandy did.

I don't think it would stick out THAT badly. Sandy does have a few "towers" in the area, albeit 5 stories or so. I don't think the comparison to airport 2 really flies. That said, I doubt it ever happens, and I hope just the proposal itself is a kick in the pants of SLC to get going with more projects downtown.

Come on. Let's cool it. Projects, I think you're perfectly fine making a thread for the Gehry project and this Sandy project. I can understand Viper's issue about it, but you should see Portlands threads. Look at SSP Portland. There is a thread for every project in downtown. I wish there was one comprehensive one for Portland, but I think in some cases it's is fine to have a thread for a big project.

The difference, of course, is that the Portland forum is only for Portland posts. We share this forum with other cities and I doubt they like us cluttering it up with projects, especially when we have a thread for projects already.

Honestly, I don't think that other forumers care about the utah threads, even if there are a bunch. I just pass over all the Denver, Boise and PHX threads without a second thought. That said, everybody relax and let's move on. I apologize for my remarks if I offended anyone.

Fetch, the "F"word has been running rampant the past few days. We should watch our language because you never know if somebody's Mutual age child sitting in a home in Murray or Provo follows this forum and is being tainted by our language, or if people in the Church Office Building follow this and are offended by such bold, crass language

The modern spaceship design is going to look so passe very quickly.

Buildings like Utah One and the Brown glass building between Main and State on South Temple are designs that are going to last.

Yes, you have to design for the future but it does not have to look like the Jetson's.

Height does not equal pure and aesthetic design.

Wow, this thread just got really awkward. And everyone's to blame.

Anyways, here's a random question: If I went to the store to buy some squash and came out of the store with a cucumber instead, then, figuratively speaking, would that make me a different person than who I was when I went into the store? I ask this question because I did this the other day and I felt like a totally different person when I got the cucumber instead of the squash. Do you think changing from one item of produce to another had something to do with that?

I value the diversity this building brings to Salt Lake City's architecture portfolio.

It is arguably the best example of International Style architecture in the West.

I am always happily surprised at the differences of opinions here. It's amazing to see a group of people, that seem to have a common interest in local development, and how different each opinion and person is.

I do wonder though how honest people would be and if the conversation would be similar if we all met in person instead of leaving unidentifiable posts.

Urbanboy I actually agree with you about the building on 400 S. and Main. In all honesty, I do not necessarily like the building and its architecture but I do like that it is different.

In short, yes. Every molecule in your body will be replaced several times over during the course of your life, as will the specific organization of those molecules, but the general organization will remain. And you are at a different place in space-time so you really are a "different" person in each new point in time. On a practical level, that doesn't really matter, and neither does whether you eat a cucumber or a squash. They are both tasty and nutritious vegetables that will nourish you such that your specific molecular organization will be provided with what it needs to realize it's genetic potential and keep you healthy and happy for as long as possible
