Well, I'm not going to get all offended and try to defend it. It is what it is.
I will say, however, that the picture the OP posted is not actually the 'skyline'. It's a nice picture and a good view of the city lights, but it's actually looking west into the suburbs from the very edge of downtown. The park you see in the foreground is actually Victoria Park.
Here's a much better shot, in this thread of SSC. Unfortunately, I'm not registered under SSC, so I can't retrieve the photo. But if you scroll down, you'll see a nighttime skyline shot of Kitchener from the eastern suburbs. Granted, not all of those buildings are actually downtown. Much like in the GTA, Kitchener has random apartment buildings scattered all over the urban fabric.
