Sedler wants 20, the developer proposes 33.

Everybody wants the Hellenic Museum finally built, including the Alderman.

I predict they'll settle on 25 or 26 floors. Anybody else want to venture a guess?

I bet we'll see something around 23-25 floors. This may be a silly question, but dont you think the developer purposely proposed a 33 story building knowing perfectly well that he had a 0% chance of getting it built, and that he has been planning a building 10 stories shorter all along? Wouldnt any developer who wants to build something in the west loop (or any other nimby infested area) artificially boost his initial proposal by many floors knowing there would be opposition? This would seem like Developer Strategy 101.

You obviously don't get up this way very often... The color of the test patch on this building is very close to white, its slightly off-white, but definitely way closer to white than beige.

Also, speaking of the Clare, I don't know what is up with the first page of this thread, but its not 50 floors. They apparantly just poured floor 52 and have two more to go until they have a "couple" mechanical floors. That means it will 55 or 56 floors.

I have a strong feeling it will be built, perhaps even at 33 stories. The Hellenic Museum has been delayed for years, the developer could make the ecconomics argument, as to why he needs to go that high; which we all know is not that high at all. Plus, the Near West Plan does call for taller buildings along the expressways; of course WLCO has been doing everything possible under Eric Sedler to even block what the plan outlined.

Eric needs his mouth bolted shut; or a midnight kidnapping and relocation to Naperthrill or Scumburg.

The blueprints show 52 floors, with a 2-level mechanical penthouse above that. The mistake on the first page is probably my fault; I always remember to give Steely the heights, but I sometimes forget the floor counts.

Yeah, the only way Skybridge got built was with the grocery carrot. I think the museum could be enough to force them to let it happen.

Actually that side of Dana will be covered with green ivy...so whtat will take a while to grow in but it will actullly look pretty cool and break up the monotony of beige in rivernorth.

I don't mind it. All walls on the lot line or very close to it IMO should be windowless. It prevents NIMBYism out of the "it will block my view by covering my window".

Chances are this wall will be hidden in the near future.

They'd probably use Boston Ivy (the same as is used at Wrigley Field), which can grow 20-30 feet per year. Once they plant it, it'd probably cover a good chunk of wall in a couple years, although I though it could only get about 60 feet high. Maybe it can go higher with a trellis system or maybe they'll elevate some of the root stock?

Boston Ivy is also deciduous, so it would look awesome in the autumn.

I also hope they can make sure it'll be able to grow on that side as well. I know plants, and the heat coming off the sun that will heat the walls, could potentially fry it, and you'll get a nice brown wall!

I don't know about during the growth process, but one benefit of ivy is that once it does cover the well, the shade it provides can significantly reduce cooling costs in a building.

Most of those background buildings are personally disgusting. However, Dana, I like. Its not overpowering, the glass balconies are sexy and well positioned. Its a wonderful adaptation of brutalism that has a lot of character in the concrete and intriguing elements in the facade. A good building imo and better than anything in that picutre.

Well-said, although I think the semblance of Brutalism is incidental.
