I'll do some digging on this one. I don't think it was really denied. I think it means that they have some more changes to make to get it approved.
Also, the lease at the Gingerman doesn't expire in April 2009. So, unless the Gables buys out the lease, nothing can happen for a while. And... There appears to be huge opposition to tearing down the Gingerman building. So we'll see what happens.

Thanks for posting that Kevin. I wrote them and Strongly suggest that folks on the forum do the same. They need to understand they are destroying the very texture and interest in the warehouse district they want to capitalize on. Stupid F**kers. (OK, I didn't put that part in).... But I do think think there is a smarter way to be pro-development.
Its odd my friend came over my shoulder and said hey the picture looks like an owl (the frost tower). Its odd though, its not the first time i have heard or read that about the buiding.
My wife who is Japanese used to always call the building Totoro after the Japanese child’s anime character. It does actually look very similar but if anything it just made the building more appealing to me.

Cant wait to see Austin in person next week. I just have one question when i come in on 35 south and cross over to 183 on the new expressway what will happen if I just stay on it and go over the big loop onto south 183. will i get a ticket or do i have to pay toll? Could they even send me a ticket in a rental anyway?

There are no tolls any where near IH35 and US183. Several miles west on US183N there is an exit to US183A which is a toll road. As far as running toll booths in a rental car: try it and let us know what happens! I'm curious.

I noticed on one of my rental car contracts once that it said something about not paying tickets/tolls/etc....that they will charge you the fine plus an addtional charge that could be more than the ticket itself, yadda yadda yadda.

Austonian. Can't really tell a whole lot from this photo, but the Level 1 floor concrete appears to be all set; they're working on getting the ramps and columns done; and they're already putting up flooring supports for Level 2 on the NE corner.
