Nobody's making billions of dollars building homes anywhere these days.

Mayor Becker is putting the pressure on the Community Development Department to become more user friendly for citizens. Hopefully, he'll put an equal amount of pressure on the Economic Development Department to get some more work done to ensure that SLC is competitive!

Just as a warning FutureMayor, I've heard from others that I work with in the field that Mayor Becker has already handpicked Mr. Shaw's replacement, but if their are other openings, good luck. You'd have to fight me for it though. I'm tired of commuting up to Davis County.

Speaking of Davis County UTPlanner, do you have any idea if the Orem/Midtown problem will also effect the Clearfield and Downtown Ogden situation. At least the Downtown Ogden situation seems like more of an attractive set-up.

A little downtown SLC update....

I drove past the Capitol theater. The building next door is basically leveled already.

Also, the courthouse project...
The gas station is fenced off, an excavator is on site. Also there is a large stockpile of wood along market street. This will probably be used for the covered sidewalks as they demolish. Or for something to do with the oddfellow hall move.

Also, I got an update e-mail from the Radi8 Condos. They plan on starting construction in the Spring.

Wasatch Front Highrise Possibilities!
I draw up the Wasatch Front's skyline and what it COULD look like driving down the I-15 in about 10 years from now.

Salt Lake City to Provo

Salt Lake City
I added all the new towers at CCC plus 222 South Main and Wasatch Partner Towers

South Salt Lake
I added the Market Station Tower and other midrise buildings around it.

Murray
There is the IHC campus, plus I added the Three proposed Highrise office towers.

Sandy
We got RSL stadium, Jordan commons, plus I added a few plan highrises near city hall.

Lehi
I added the Frank Grehy Project with the 45-story hotel, plus other buildings next to that.

Pleasant Grove
I added the Tow highrise hotels that are plan for the area.

Provo
I added the Z.B.F.C., U.T. and Nuskin tower that are all plan.

I'm sure not ALL of this towers will get built, some of them could only be pipe dreams, but i'm hoping we could get MOST of them. What do you guys think? Not bad huh?

I had to add something....

Sometimes I wish that Marvin Heemeyer had lived in Sandy City, and taken his beef up with them. Not sure who Marvin is look him up on wikepedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_Heemeyer

and some footage...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24n77GgRtrw

Long live Marvin Heemeyer's legend of the Killdozer. Stickin' it to the man.

If I ever snap look for me on the news with a killdozer in Sandy

That's cute, Projects. However, let's give Salt Lake City some taller buildings!

Not sure what you mean.
I didn't included the "Glass Tower" on Main and 100 South and the 40-story tower on State and 100 south since those projects are still years away.
All I included was the towers at CCC and 222 South Main, but none of those towers will be any taller then what we already have downtown.
Believe me I would love to see taller buildings in salt lake. That's if there's any planed.

Thanks T-Mac. It's nice to finally see work done on the Broadway Park Lofts project.

Then don't you think you were a little too generous with Sandy's skyline? Even if those "towers" come to fruition, we don't know how tall they will be.

Interesting article, I'm am sooooo glad that Becker is at the helm now. His attitude to just ignore Sandy and move ahead post-haste, along with bringing his brother in, (one of the leading national experts on the matter at hand) to personally shepherd the deal, I think will give us the results we're hoping for.

Wait, There's a 40 story tower planed? How did I miss that?

Social Hall Tower 2
Floors: 40
Height:375'+
Address: 100 South State Street
Other: I have heard from an inside source that plans call for a 40 story tower to be built on this site. This site will be used for the staging of the construction for the City Creek Center. Upon completion in 2011 this project will move forward. Timeline unknown.

Who knows if it's going to happen or not.

Those towers in Sandy were a guess. But those towers are not any taller then salt lake's. I should of draw the towers at Sandy even taller just to piss you off. JK
