must they be demolished? i'm sure it could be avoided. liuna just doesn't want to work for their money.
the building to the left of lister was built in the 1850s by william thomas - architect of wilderness house, inglewood, numerous other hamilton buildings that have been demolished. he also designed st. lawrence hall, the don jail and a million other buildings i can't think of right now. he was a very prolific and highly regarded architect.
incidentally, most of that building is hidden under that wretched facade. it could be saved but i don't think people care enough. and mark my words, once they start messing with the streetwall, other buildings will start to give and voila! another crater in the hamilton landscape.
