^ On a somewhat related note, even though the architecture of Fifield's new community is trash, I actually hope that the developer of the Lake Meadows complex takes a page from their book, as well as from the developers of LSE.

Start off building a bunch of luxury rental highrises to generate enough density to support retail. After bringing in some basic retail services, follow through with some condo highrises, then lower density housing like flats, townhomes, and single families.

The mistake that the Central Station developers made was to build townhomes and single families early on--with legendary NIMBYism following suit quickly.

Either way I'm excited by this one because this, along with the Trio highrise, it/they will have some major visual impact as the termination of the vista looking north as you drive northbound on I-90/94.

my roommate is a structural engineer. i heard him mention that he was working on two towers on kinzie. im not 100% if these are the buildings or not. but he said the towers are between 30-40 stories, and that they are going to be conneceted up to a certain point. im pretty sure, this means the podium. he did say they the builds will share an outdoor pool, basketball court, etc....

Yeah, good point. You don't usually hear the residents of a 50 story building saying a 3 story townhome is out of character with their neighborhood!

Amfleish - I have heard that the northeast corner of the parcel (about an acre in size, which borders Kinzie, Clinton and the RR tracks) will not be developed and may be turned into a park of some sort because of CTA right-of-way issues (ie, the CTA has a right of way they want to preserve there for potential future use). And, if you look at the development there, that parcel is not torn up -its a parking lot and partial staging area. Can you ask your roomate if this is true? Thanks.

Are you confusing X/O w/ another one of LaGrange's revivalist projects? X/O is the essence of kick ass modern residential architecture. Sure it has a few problems, like the base townhomes, but I think the designed form is just as bold and innovative as anything a higher profile [European] starchitect would deliver. You so crazy!

Anybody know the status on all the apartment tower proposed for the loop? I know 215 west wasthington should be started any time now?...but there a few other i believe...one on lake street, another on jefferson,..am i missing anymore? Also is there any new height update on 215 west washington?
