Remember Theatre District Lofts in Uptown, a project nearly as old and mysterious as Park 1000?

If you check out this page (link below) from their website, it appears that a vast majority of their units are sold. So what could be the delay?

I work near by. One day while going to Chase after work a few months ago I stopped by their sales office next door to Chase. I pretended to be interested in buying a condo but not sure where yet. They told me they only have a few units left to sell. Thats what I was told. But after a while of NO action on construction I wonder.

I forgot to mention, a construction worker at 565 Quincy told me the tower would start rising from the roof of the loft building in a matter of days. Technically this started construction a hundred years ago, and has just been on hold since then

Eco 18 is only listed as 25% sold in their ads, but who knows. It's a small building. Yeah, it should be added to the front page.

I've learned to limit the proposals I actually place hope in, and the only ones I'm allowing myself to care about are The Peshtigo and Solstice on the Park. Optima Horizons is the only cancellation in this boom cycle that I can remember as a serious disappointment however, so maybe I should have more faith... but I think things will slow down.

In regards to Walton on the Park, the Yo is now reporting that groundbreaking occurred on the south tower at 11 AM today...

Sorry if someone already added it, but the new Children's Memorial will almost certainly start foundation work this year...

^ Did they mention anything about deliveries, when they're planning to start construction, etc?

Dan - I definitely agree with you in that things will slow down. Although with a lot of these approved projects being in the works for the past year or two, I think we could still squeeze out about 20 new starts in 2008. My guess is that that number would drop to about 10-15, for 2009....which is still not too shabby, but considerably lower than what we've seen in 2005-2007.

MPP is a rental tower so no presales are required. La Strada has closed and the lower portion of the Doral has started boarding up I beleive. So site prep is already or soon will be in progress.

you must mean Optima Promenade over at chicago and davis, correct? because Optima Horizons was completed a couple of years ago.

and i will do a page 1 update one of these days. because of my injury and subsequent surgery i just haven't had the time or energy to do one, and now that i've got 4 weeks of info to sift through, the task becomes even more daunting, but i'll eventually get to it one of these weeks. in the meantime, keep the info coming, as long as it's posted to his thread, i'll get to it.

^ Yes, of course. Optima Promenade. That was a dumb mistake, but come to think of it there was also the cancellation of the tall version of Optima Horizons.

Well, I went to the plan commission meeting today. Jeanne Gang's environmental center was approved.

I spoke up in favor of the K-Station project, but I did say that the architecture was less than desirable. I said that P/H has the potential to do good buildings, but that this is a recycled design. I also said that nothing Fifield has ever built would be missed if it was torn down today.

Also, the Congress Hotel addition was NOT APPROVED. The alderman didn't support the project until they got their act together and fix all the code violations. I agree with this stance.

What are these code violations?

I would just assume save the Holabird and Roche part, gut it and rebuild, then use the rest of the block as part of the massive casino

How many high rises are they building there, and where can I find all of the designs of the buildings?

Fifield plans two more 30-40 story towers between Halsted and Desplaines, along with the Jewel-Osco now under construction.

Designs have not yet been released for the ones along Halsted, since Fifield is concentrating on the eastern half of their site, which is closer to downtown and the train stations.

My understanding is that there was only 1 highrise planned for west of the Jewel, with the address 360 N. Union (bounded by Kinzie/Halsted/Union). Were there 2 towers wedged in there?

Either way I'm excited by this one because this, along with the Trio highrise, it/they will have some major visual impact as the termination of the vista looking north as you drive northbound on I-90/94.
