What a scam. Once again Vancouver gets the goods and Victoria gets squat.

Anyone want a bet on the breakdown of the spending?

I am betting 80% on the Lower Mainland, 20% for the rest of the province.

Anything short of "SkyTrain" on the Evergreen line will be a disappointment, to me at least.

An M-Line extension to UBC would be icing on the cake. Combine that with a rerouted Evergreen Line utilizing Skytrain technology and a long term plan to extend Skytrain in Surrey and everyone pretty much gets what they want.

It's almost too good to be true. I can't wait to see how Trasolini reacts to the news, if a rerouted Evergreen Line is in the cards. I've despised that man ever since he singularly worked to derail Skytrain through Port Moody in favor of his glorified street car.

Anyway, here's hoping.

Forsure, Frankly I think most of the Fraser valley would be better served by commuter rail, even if it just links up with some of the outlying skytrain stations for those commuting to areas serviced by skytrain. Its just a much more cost effective way of moving people in those kinds of densities.

makes sense since about ~70% of the population lives in the Lower Mainland.

No Victoria gets BRT. If we get anything else I will be shocked and the Lower mainland is not close to 70 % of the province.

Based on the 2006 census the lower mainland, including Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Squamish, rounded up is 2.35 million. The pop of the province is 4.11 million. So simple math puts the entire lower mainland and fraservalley at 57 % of the pop of the province.

Requirements for transit are skewed towards larger metropolitan centres. Assuming every damn town and village requires the same per capita transit spending as Vancouver is retarded.

Victoria and Kelowna aren't villages, but your population percentage point is not very meaningful.

But yeah, 70% would be about 2.8 million... I thought it was about 2.5 (of 4.0)

So, I'll just say I was including Victoria and Nanaimo... yeah... that's what I was doing...

after all, Victoria is closer than Chilliwack.

Skewed is to put it mildly. A cursory glance at the news release puts it close to 90% in the Lower mainland.

6 billion on RT in Vancouver.
10 million on a BRT line in Victoria.

Yup seems fair.
