Yeah, I saw them putting up the Walker sign yesterday...took some pictures at ground level on 2nd South, but the pics that are already posted here are better. I'll like it when it's finished--especially lit up at night.

Wow Orpheum, that sign is going up fast!!! It will be very cool to have it back and lit-up again.

There's a ton of projects going on in the Salt Lake and Metro area. Since I started posting pic's (many of which are yours) of different projects, we've been averageing well over a hundred viewing hits a day on the Salt Lake Rundown Thread. These hits are of forumers from all over the country, some of which are getting ludicrous and phony opinions from certain, 'you know who's'. These photo's help people understand that this is one of the most dynamic economy's and three fastest growing areas in the nation, full of exciting, recently completed, and newly constructed projects, representing billions in investment.

Richard vonWeller, a City Hall building inspector, visits crews putting up a hospital at Quinn's Junction on Thursday, making sure rebar is placed correctly above the steel beams. The city's Building Department inspects the work at the site almost every weekday. The Intermountain Healthcare hospital is among the big-dollar projects that pushed Park City's construction industry to a record-setting year in 2007.

HOLLADAY - A civil war is brewing in this east-side city over a developer's plans to remake the now-defunct Cottonwood Mall.
On one side - in support of the $550 million redevelopment project proposed by mall owner General Growth Properties - stand most city officials, the Chamber of Commerce and a grass-roots organization named Holladay Citizens United...

...Boon or boondoggle, the project's fate hangs, in large part, on a school board vote Tuesday...

I would actually love to see some of these facing Liberty Park on 500 E from 900 S to 1300 S.

I think creating some mid block streets with these on both sides would also be a great project.

Riding Trax pantless video!


Ok So my wife and I went downtown on Saturday to check out the Trax event. At first there wasn't that big of a turn out with only about 10 people waiting. But in the end there was about 20 people or so. There were also a few cops hanging around telling us to have fun, be safe and to follow the rules.

Also while downtown the other day I notice a big crane next to the walker center building as crews were putting up the walker sign. I got up close with my new camera to get the action. LOL

Salt Lake sits atop Forbes' list of 'Best Cities for Jobs'

Salt Lake City is at the top of Forbes.com's rankings of "Best Cities for jobs" in the United States in 2008.


Forbes :It will be great when CCC is completed and they start using an updated photo. Tower 1 will look great!

The Lone Star State shines brilliantly in a list of the best places to work in the U.S. when some economists peer into their crystal balls for 2008...

Even still, Salt Lake City, in all its tech-job abundance, looks like it will remain No. 1 since Forbes.com's most recent ranking ( see last year's story).

Im sure I will here it after this comment, but I have to say it. Salt Lake City needs more. I know we will get an incredible new shopping destination, yet it seems that we are still missing something, like a land mark. Yes, we have land Mark Buildings (because that is what they are) but there is not a center or and designated area that calls people to it, for no other reason but just because it is. This is why I say this. Driving downtown today, I looked at the empty (landscaped parking) lot surround by 4th south, main, 5th south, and West temple and tried to imagine what could possibly be built there, but then I thought of statues and fountains. Maybe not on the whole block, Maybe just on the North East corner with the rest of the block developed for whatever. I guess I want to see a land mark that when people see it, they say "salt Lake".... ps I have nothing against the temple.
