Concerto is now framing the 2nd floor residential of the 9th/Fig tower and the 9th/Flower tower looks to be starting the 2nd floor of its below-grade parking garage. I'll try to get some pics this weekend. I don't have much of a view of their 6 story loft building, but I know the framing is above ground.

717 Ninth is on the 9th/10th floor now (4th residential floor). Looks to be going fast now that the parking garage is over. I do say though, the podium size looks to be half the size of their parking garage. Almost, 1100 Wilshireish.

I was in downtown the other night and while I didn't get a chance to look inside of the pit, it does seem as though all three Concerto buildings are under construction. Or at least one tower and the parking garage.

Btw..at Hanover on what looked to be the 5th or 6th floor on the corner, it looked as though someone was inside (lights were on) and a LED sign was flashing something but I couldn't read it. Hanover looks better in real life than it does in pictures. Stucco or not. Some people just find the most minute things to complain about and it's pointless. Hanover is really nice for what it is.

I've noticed that they're work hours aren't that much.

BTW, will the Billboard on the corner of Hanover be Digital?

JDRCrash....where do you live? I live at the corner of 9th & Flower. I've seen those workers every weekday. For 717 Ninth, I've seen them come in nearly every Saturday as well.

Like I mentioned earlier, I think the parking garage construction takes the longest time. Look at the Ritz Carlton...it won't be hitting street level soon unfortunately. It took Concerto/717 Ninth a good 6 months until they hit residential construction. That's how it goes buddy.

I've been walking by the Brockman a lot lately. I've sometimes noticed the outside workers there past 7 pm. It finally looks like it's moving faster. Hopefully, the insides are progressing well also.

Just a note from me.

Stay away from 4th and Main this weekend. (01-12-08/01-13-08)

Both 4th st and Main St will be closed both Saturday and Sunday due to a film shoot. Main St will be closed from 3rd to 5th st and 4th st will be closed from Spring st to Los Angeles St. Winston St will also be closed.
This will be 7 a.m to 10 p.m. both days.

The planters on Main St are now gone, it looks so different with out them.

Just a heads up if your going to be in downtown this weekend.

Following up on our post earlier this week about the design refinements of the 1027 Wilshire tower in City West, we spoke to Central City Group Development to get an update on the project.

As the story goes, ground-breaking has been pushed back until the third quarter of 2008 and funding is still up in the air. However, when asked whether they were confident to find a financial backer, we were told “absolutely.”

Furthermore, their faith in Downtown’s long-term residential market has not wavered, as the large scale of 1027 Wilshire is not expected to change or go rental.

The 52-story, 402-unit glass condominium project obtained entitlements in September 2006 and is currently in the plan check phase.

Ever so slowly, Frank Gehry’s $3-billion city-defining project now dubbed “The Grand” is becoming a reality. Deconstruction work has begun on the dainty parking structure at 1st and Grand (across from Disney Concert Hall) to make way for the massive development.

Railing on the south side of the structure adjacent to the Colburn School has been removed, and reminds us all that February 7th’s groundbreaking event is less than a month away.

The film is shooting also in Harlem Place Alley and in the Parking Garage.

Here's what the press release says

The scene is set in the winter. The Company will shoot scenes of two actors fleeing a robbery scene. They will arive on foot in front of the bank just as all the "sprinkler systems throughout the city" go off forcing people out of all the local businesses. There will be a foot chase scene along 4th Street, in Harlem Place Alley and through the garage. The actors will exit on Main Street and will enter a bus driving away down Winston Street. There will be a number of picture vehicles including fire trucks and police cars.

There will be blank single shot full load gunfire. There will be approximately 400 extras.

Local business will be open as usual.


I would call Lost Souls to see if they will be open on Sunday.

That movie shoot sounds interesting. Last movie shoot I saw in downtown was The Fast and Furious 3. That was awesome for the simple fact at how lit up Wilshire between Fig and Grand was. Plus I totally raided the catering truck. 3 am turkey sandwiches and Doritoes = awesome.

I think the Mandel is done and open for occupancy. I was by this evening and see a listing of residents on the sheet posted next to the intercom outside the door. And, there are blinds in some of the units.
