based on the current facade, i'm not getting any hint of the strong verticality displayed in the early renderings..... got a bad feeling.
If you look at the main rendering, the verticality is 7 large fins on the South/North faces. They start at a floor that doesn't have glass yet, so that's why you don't see it.
In another month you should be able to get a good impression of it.
This isn't exactly true the way you have stated it... you might say more accurately that concrete structures generally have more native rigidity than steel due to their necessary bulk and massiveness.
I'm not saying its not possible to build a steel structure that is as rigid, I'm just saying that, in skinny places, its much more efficiant to use concrete since you don't have to cross brace it all over the place and can utilize sheer walls and the likes...
The new glass does look amazingly clear in color. I am not sure if I'm sold on the lack of contrast in the facade, which might make the stainless stand out less. From some angles it looks fine, others not. However, at least it doesn't look like we'll have another blue glass building to get lost among the rest.
Looking at the renders on page one, it looks like the glass above where we are is a little less transparent...? Do you think we'll get yet another type of glass as we move higher up?

i understand what some of you guys are talking about with the lack of contrast, however, i was looking at it today and i just didn't see it. I thought the stainless and the glass contrasted very nicely. I think it will be a lighting condition thing.
My only real concern is that the riverfront plaza doesn't end up being cold or difficult to get to. I would love to see some real city life get closer to the river.
