I was just goofin' around on Google street views and found out they have a Timmies in downtown Providence on the corner of Westminster and Dorrance. Don't believe me? Check it out yourself!

I don't get it, Canadians go to TH because they think it's the Canadian thing to do, but why is it so popular in Rochester?

^ From my observation people like the idea of going into a Timmies grabbing a mug of coffee and a donut or whatever and sitting down and chit chatting, seniors love it. Others don't do that, expecially the coffee mug. Plus there's more than donuts that they offer.

I know they have sandwiches but I think they put sugar on their bread. Their donuts are no Krispy Kream.

Donuts should be deep fried. Tim Hortons bakes theirs which is why they're soggy. Robin's deep fries theirs still, so they're nice and crispy.

It's from another country, it's exotic compared to a Dunkin Donuts

Tim's has been expanding into the US ever since Wendy's took them over. They took over a small chain in Rhode Island and there are now quite a few there.

I've noticed some Wendy's in Maine actually closed and were converted into Tim's. Not sure if they're still doing that after Tim's was spun off.

I just have to say. As man from Moncton (who lives within walking distance of 5 Tim's), any negative talk about Tim's is absolutely blasphemous!

I think I'll go for a cup right now...

You can make brewed coffee yourself for next to nothing (you don't need a $2000 espresso machine to brew a la TH- you can get an airpot and a decent grinder for less than $100), and that will give you years and years and years of coffee that is better than anything you could ever dream of at Timmy's.

Timmy's gets you hooked by brewing WEAK. Weak means fewer grounds which means less caffeine, which means you, Mr Sucker, keep heading back because you feel "loggy." A cup of brewed coffee should have 10g of grounds at a bare minimum- and I guarantee that what you're getting at your wonderful icon is nowhere close to that.

Timmy's is a scam.

Woohoo! I've been in St. John's for 10 days and still haven't been to Timmies. That's 35 stores in the metro area I haven't been in.

Geez, man. I was trying to make light of the situation.

For the record though, I don't like your argument. I, and I'm sure 99% of TH's other customers don't drink their coffee because of it's bean count or high quality. Frankly, it's decent coffee, reasonably inexpensive, consistent, and very convenient. I don't really care for coffee strong enough to run a car on, anyway.

You could continue your argument to just about any kind of store-bought food. I'm sure you could buy syrup and a dispenser to make your own Pepsi, or molds, and ingredients to make better chocolate bars than you can in the store. I would hardly say someone who buys bread is a sucker because they didnt' make it themselves for half the cost (even if it is better).

If you want to call people suckers, I'd go after people who pay credit card debt interest.

Good to see that we agree.

It sucks that a national "icon" sells low-quality garbage. Is it even possible to get a decent donut in Canada since this behemoth has taken over?

Timmys may not have the best coffee, but I like their donuts and they have decent food for lunch. People don't go there because they feel culturally obligated to do so, they go because they like the product that they sell, and since there is at least 1 in every neighborhood, it is extremely convenient.

oh i had some soup there last week and it was the worst thing i have ever had

it was horrible

the chiocken noodle

it was made from some kind of powdered mix - the veggies were all small and gross verging on crunchy, the noodles tasted awful, the chicken was awful

nothing good about it at all

i had had soup there before years ago and it was pretty decent but this stuff was worse than lipton cup a soup

i almost wrote to them to complain
