quick addendum to a-train's requests-- i'm dying to know what's going on with the art institute addition by renzo piano. it's a solid, subdued project and a solid win for the city--i'd love to know what's going on at the site!

HARRY, i'm looking at you you can borrow my bike if that helps... j/k... but seriously, a huge photo update would rule... you see i have this problem, called, lazyitus. i can't leave the house or wake up before 4:30pm... it's a really bad condition that keeps me from getting out and taking pictures of my own.

I don't mind the CNA signage...to me it is a show of the institutions and businesses that help make up a city. Something to be proud of. As long as it's tasteful.

I saw that CNA pic and I was like "OMG...sinage!" Its not that bad, and CNA does a lot for the skyline spelling things out in its lights....they have a right to advertise some.

The piano addition is unlike anyhting I've ever seen. I'm not really loving the tones, but all that glass !

Thank you, BVic - I'd been hoping for some new renders. Some interesting thermal exchanges appear to be going on here beyond the angled Southern exposures. Ceiling heights seem to be only 8-9' range? The North skyline view should be a jawdropper.

I want one.

Solstice on the Park is wicked as hell. Even the garage looks nice--I hope they follow through on their plans to grow thick ivy on its walls and to have orange-colored glass as in the picture above.

Hmmmm......If the timing goes well, and a few other factors fall into place, I may consider buying a unit there..

Gee, now I'm even more enamored of Solstice on the Park. From the renderings, it looks to be an outpost of modernism amidst a more traditional built environment. I wonder how the PDNA members would react to this one were it proposed in their nabe.

A shot from yesterday of The Clare, just to give people an idea of where it's at in terms of height:

I'm guessing that on the "podium" part, it isn't going to be ivy.

Ivy makes sense for the lower part of the tower facade, but with the full coverage everwhere else, it might be a living wall, with a mixture of ivy, and other thicker plants

like in the Quai Branly Museum by Jean Nouvel in Paris

Thank you - this makes sense of the otherwise silly windows. Simple solutions are always the best.
