Paris Block

Here is a picture of the back of Paris Block (viewed from Cordova). I noticed that the building next to it has also been demolished. Is this going to be part of Paris Block or is it going to be another development?

they needed one there though - haha

i don't think there are any on georgia street - close to it but not on it

the one in royal centre closes too early and if you are coming up Burrard its an easy spot to hit

This is a bit off topic but it just seemed really weird to me so I thought I'd share this with you. I was looking up info on the Marine Building the other night and suddenly I came to this website...

http://www.cbc.ca/sevenwonders/more_wonders_bc.html

...only to see that I'd been quoted by the CBC?! The weirdest thing of all is how they almost try to pawn me off as some sort of professional architectural critic.

Lol, that's awesome. I like how they quoted you using your forum name..

RE: Starbucks at 1014 W. Georgia - despite its obviously central location, that side of Georgia isn't as prime a spot as it should be, which is why the old cafe (called Lupo's) didn't do that well, even though the food was really good and it had loyal patrons. People will probably be drawn from Burrard and the other side of Georgia if they see the Starbucks sign.

I remember awhile back somebody said that there was some sort of light/video strip along the top of L'Hermitage. I haven't been by it at night so I haven't noticed it but has anybody else seen this yet/taken pictures? Any further descriptions of it?

How long ago was the light strip on L'Hermitage supposed to be installed?

As for the lazy reporter, meh.

If anybody is interested in a little Vancouver promotion, somebody from Reno just started a thread in the City Discussions subforum asking why Vancouver has so many highrises...

http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=142624

If you were thinking of posting that great pic found by phesto, I already beat you to it, sorry.

Jackass.

Thanks for pointing the thread out though, I would have never noticed it otherwise.

Hey, that was me.

Yeah i saw it on, almost 2 months ago now. But everytime ive walked by since, there is nothing to see. The building is not completed yet, so maybe it was just on as a test? Basically it was a narrow strip of video screen probably 1/4 the width of the building running along the very top off to one side. It had moving and changing colours going back and forth horizontally that were quite bright and vibrant. Hopefully it will be on again soon.

The blue plastic was pulled off the upper storeys of the tower a couple of weeks ago (looks a bit drab as a result with the gray mullions and spandrels) - so maybe it'll be lit up soon.

I noticed a aluminum framework being erected on the short building @ Mainland & Helmcken that formerly held the Mavi Jeans store - soon to be home of Earls Restaurant. Looks like they are doing the same thing to it that they did to the Yaletown Brewing Co. Building or opening up the roof for Earl's (courtyard/patio?)?

CRU is industry slang for commercial retail unit.
