Have heard of several offers to buy the buildings on the south side of blood alley, but not for an entertainment district. Although the plans do include turning blood alley into an area covered with cafes/bistros.

Reading this months Vancouver magazine, they interview Jacqui Cohen the heiress to the the Army+Navy stores and asked if she planned on selling, she states no, buts has a grand vision of restored the building facades as well as building 2 towers there along with commercial space and some additional retail.

that chick is one of the biggest coke heads, a total looser that would probably be right on main and haistings if she didnt get her inheritance.

or i suppose it is relevant because i doubt she is capable of making a good decisions about army and navy, potential redevelopment and or moving even with the help of her advisor's.

well on what you just stated, the fact is she did sell the parking lot and I knwo the staff at A & N stated that a 40 floor high rise is due to be build there, any confirmation on that is yet to be seen?

Yes, Salt is very nice. Put the camera the other way (facing south) and you'll see what I mean. More "Salt type" restaurants along Blood Alley would be very welcome.

Concord Pacific have purchased 7 buildings along Hastings by the Woodwards. The rumor is that they are waiting for Woodwards to be complete before they start construction.

thanks for the INFO, and I have been to SALT a few times neat place the owners are quite charming, I also go to the coffee shop they own on Carrall the Irish pub is also their business. They started when no one believe this area would ever become trendy now look and see,

If the City makes rezoning inquiries public, then expect to see some info made available regarding the Amacon office tower at 1133 Melville as well as a Manulife office tower on the corner of Nelson and Howe (17 storeys I believe).

The Amacon tower is currently set at 500 ft to the top of the highest occupied floor (42nd) and hence not including mechanical or any rooftop architectural features. So that means a maximum potential height of 500ft +10% or 550ft (167m). The roof in the latest renderings I've seen appears pretty flat though so it probably wouldn't utilize all the extra potential height. However maybe the city will prefer it to have an interesting roof feature if it gets far enough along as a proposal. The current design would still make for a project worthy of tallest office tower in the city though.

I found this render of some South American building concept that slightly resembles the current 1133 Melville design...



With ours the angles aren't as extreme but it is cantilevered in a similar fashion and has a sort of slit cut out that wraps half way around the tower 10% below the top or so. Ours also looks more stubby as its likely not nearly as tall as this one is meant to be.

From what I've seen of ours I'd take it over this South American one (save for the difference in height). I have no idea what the curtain wall is supposed to look like for ours though.

If you have any influence or input regarding the design, than may I make a suggestion...

It would be lovely and much appreciated if the facade was something like Bentall 5, One Wall Centre, and the Ritz Carlton.
