Yeah same owner. good food and a nice space, but they don't get the bands
they used to. When I first moved downtown several years ago, they were
booking bands that are now selling out shows at the Fillmore and such.
They just book amateur local acts now, which is cool too - but they left a
bit of a hole in there.

Recent article on their 15th anniversary.

Thanks for the info. I do like the space and they way it looks. It's just a bit different than it was back then. I'm trying to remember where it was originally. Did it occupy the space where The Park lounge is?

I think that's just about right - maybe a bit closer to where Ma Jong's and the The Park club/dance floor/bar area is?

It did..

I used to work at the Capitol Gagrage just for the fun of it, when News10's George Warren owned it.

At one point we kept the garage open until 4:00 a.m. and we would reopen around 5:00 or 5:30 a.m... That didn't last long though. But it wasn't do to lack of crowds. Mostly a lack of paying customers.

Then George hired this woman who knew nothing about managing a coffeee house and she did her best to run off the young downtown crowd and the people who worked there.. George was a cool owner and he was excited about DT Sacramento. Unfortunately he hired a psychopath to manage his coffee house.

She thought it should cater exclusivley to the Capitol and the Convention Center crowds..

Unfortunately the Capitol isn't always the hot bed of activity and most of the convention business tends to gravitate towards J street; (except for events at the CCT).. Anyway I quit and George Warren sold the place shortly after, but not before his new manager quit also. It was about that time that they started having live music to draw the younger crowds back..

anybody know of any bowling alleys in south sac or downtown? There is an AMF lanes over by the airport on freeport but they have the worst balls with cuts in them I have ever seen.

Theres a bowling ally on florin rd... i havent been there in about 10 years though.

Dude... the magic of bowling extends beyond class, color or creed

and sexual orientation for that matter. last time i was at the one on
Freeport, there was a gay and lesbian league playing.

And I like the one on Freeport. It's better than Capitol Bowl in Wessac.
though they're not bad either.

Where can I get some good blues music? My buddies usually drink in Old Folsom and too many of the bands there are crappy repeats.

I have been to the one on freeport, it's a good alley but if you don't have your own balls, you're gonna get cuts on your thumbs. They have really bad grooves in the finger holes.

If you want to go beyond South Sac and downtown, try the Country Club Lanes on Watt Avenue. It's at the center where the old Tower records and books used to be.

Sacramento has really grown with some great new restaurants and alot more in the way of nightlife. Especially during the warmer evenings, you really notice the area coming alive. When the art walk is happening, there sure is alot of vibrancy in the streets.
One thing I noticed a few weekends ago. Around these areas in the daytime, didn't quite have the same vibrancy as in the evening. The restaurants were open but, very quiet. Outdoor seating looking really lonely. Is it because of the lack of housing? I think that has alot to do with it. It would be nice to have that same vibrancy during the daytime as well.

The lack of housing and density. Many people on this board will claim "Midtown can do just fine with all of the detached single family homes!!" but that isn't true.

We need a bunch of more developments like 1801L and L street lofts to bring the population and density numbers up to make midtown more than just a nightlife destination.
