Actually, no renderings exist right now - by the time construction of the hotel build-out begins, the tower will probably be more than half-way off the ground *(Maybe this should be in the Aqua thread??? Sorry.)

^^ Well it's funny because the street retail is bustling, but I saw no workers working on the upper floors.

For the size of the building, it does seem like it's been u/c forever.

Heard an interesting tidbit about 541 Cornelia, which hasn't had any progress in months since the site was cleared. Apparently the property owners in the building next door sued for an injunction because an engineer told them that the foundation work for the new highrise (541 Cornelia) would irreparably damage the foundations of the neighboring building. So this one is held up in court for who knows how long. It should probably be put into "On Hold" or "Proposed" category. To my knowledge the developer still intends to build it, but it could be a while.

The X/O downzoning was "officially" withdrawn by the alderman. I went to city hall this morning and was told that the issue is dead.

^Good. I hope that means X/O will go through as planned. I remember someone from their firm saying the potential for downzoning hurt/stalled sales. Architecturally and geographically, I think X/O is the most important proposal on the books. Solstice on the Park isn't far behind in that regard.

Fioretti is a tool. Guess that makes him a pretty good politician. But I wonder if he has those PDNA petitioners fooled.

The X/O site is pretty close to where I live, cant wait to see it rise out of townhome NIMBYland.

^ No that doesn't make him a good politician. A good politician would pick a side and go with it to get the support of at least one interest group in the process. He tried to cater to both NIMBYs and developers, and in the end, doesn't have the support of either. The Prairie s aren't going to give him support anyway since he backed off and developers now know he's a puppet of NIMBYs and want him out. In the end, he just looks weak and spineless.

Not to mention, there are a few hundred future residents of X/O who probably aren't too happy that their move-in date was probably delayed a good half year due to Fioretti's actions....and they probably won't vote for him when he comes up for reelection.

Until someone wants to build a tower @ 500 ft "in their backyard"

I think everyone should just chill and let this one go. If the tower is not build as a result of the delay caused by Fioretti, then we can b*tch. Until then, i'm looking forward to this getting U/C.
