Great photo updates from everyone! I will be downtown on Thursday to see the many exciting Chicago construction projects in person, but its just great to know what to expect in advance from this forum. The fantastic photos and descriptions of whats happening now are the next best thing to actually being there. Thanks everyone!

Just noticed - why are the columns facing the river so massive, and the ones on the other side so small (in comparison)?

I am really looking forward to this building being done.

The massive columns are engaged in a one-way outrigger system.

-- I always thought it was because the tower (the top 60+ stories) doesn't rest on the back of the building, it only rests on the front of the building and the sides.

Am I the only one here is absolutely obsessed with the Thomson Center? I show all of my friends that sweet ultra modern spaceport looking building whenever we are near by. I also go out of my way to transfer at Clark and Lake because I love that station. Its too bad Thomson Center is closed after like 7pm every day, I rarely get to go inside the atrium.

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I wasn't planning on posting the photo because Waterview Tower is shaded and barely visible, but it turned out better than I expected. It's funny because sometimes I walk away thinking I got this great shot and after downloading it to my computer, it turns out to be a dud. This one was a pleasant surprise.

[ Thompson Center ] I have spent many hours figuring out the roof and structure - beautiful place. And the "Simply to Go" shop in the food court has superb soup, for $3.08 - best deal in the area.

The formwork being put in now, on the N side, does not have the ramp, it is flat.

You mean the upside-down toilet? Sorry, but I think its the ugliest building ever built!
