Maybe these lights are what makes East Point "unique in Atlantic Canada".

Northrup is impressing me less and less. It's a nice development, but it's your standard power centre (before these spotlights, that is). And if you can see them from the west side, they're too powerful and a waste. At least you don't see Halifax's from the middle of Dartmouth and vice-versa.
Question: where is the new offramp of Hwy 1 conneting to? If it's in the area I'm assuming it to be, tourists coming off the new hwy1 offramp will likely pass McAllister and Smart Centres first, and if they do get to East Point, they'll likely think "giant spotlights for Home Depot, Starbucks, and Indigo? Why?" I know I wouldn't want to stay at either of the hotels because of those lights either, even if they are only on until 10. Travellers often like to "turn in early" for at least one night they're in town, especially if travelling by plane. The "Saint John" sign was bright enough when I was staying at Ft. Howe in a room facing the hill, I couldn't imagine a set of giant spotlights being next door.
For some it might attract them, but for me, it detracts from the site (I'd say the same thing if it was Dartmouth Crossing, Corbett Centre, Spar Rd Power Centre, Two Nations Crossing Smart Centre...etc).
