Here's a couple of photos of FS from today. Looks like the shoring work will be finished in a couple of weeks and I believe they now have the green light from the city for the foundation.
At a $350 million cost, they can call it a superstructure, if they want. In a way, anything over 20 or 30 stories, is a superstructure anyway. It's not just a normal structure that any old construction company can build, it's a superstructure. Anyone have the exact definition of a superstructure?
su·per·struc·ture /ˈsupərˌstrʌktʃər/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[soo-per-struhk-cher] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–noun 1. the part of a building or construction entirely above its foundation or basement.
That sounds more like a "structure" than a "superstructure." According to that definition, my house is a superstructure. Heck, even my chicken house and barn are buildings entirely above their foundation.

That's actually correct. The part of your house that extends above the foundation is the superstructure. The foundation would be the substructure.
Quote:
From Wikipedia - A superstructure is an extension of an existing structure or baseline. This term is applied to both physical structures (e.g buildings, bridges and ships) or to conceptual structures (social science). The word itself is a combination of super (Latin for above, in addition) and structure (also from Latin meaning to build, to heap up).

Does anybody have any up to date photos? Is the pit complete now? Do we have structure starting to rise yet? I think this tower needs to be closely monitored like Denver SSP Forumers did with the HYATT. Many many pics throughout hte construction phases. It's just a thought, but I believe this tower is significant to Denver.
