Don't know what colour the signs will appear when lit. If I recall correctly, the old ones were white when unlit and red when lit. The new signs may be brown/black when unlit and white when lit (like the Hyatt, Province and Vancouver Sun signs).
They've added a big vertical sign on the corner of the building. Think Shore Club but "Westin" - in silver/gray. Looks good at night, just OK during the day. They mimicked the brackets from the building's awnings for the sign, which looks good for the bottom bracket, but look odd for the upper bracket - the top bracket should be upside down, but that would probably compromise the strength.

Hey guys... just a little tid of info. Saw the innital renderings of the new Ferrari Maserati dealership yesterday, and they look quite nice. It is a three storey structure with two levels of underground parking, glass curtain wall around the three walls fronting Burrard Street, 3rd street and the lane. At the top right of the three curtain walls there is ferrari signage.

I didn't realize there was that much of a demand for Ferraris and Maseratis in Vancouver.

So is the current dealership on Venables near Clark moving there then? Or will this be a 2nd location?
I think the current location is kinda dumpy to be selling the most prestigious and expensive cars on the planet.

Almost all of the high end dealerships are on Burrard. The area is industrial but on the west side so it makes sense for them to locate there. Should be ripe for development in ten to fifteen years too

I think its the one location moving. I would be absolutely shocked if there were two ferrari dealerships in Vancouver... let alone two in Vancouver proper

A rendering of the new Whitecaps Stadium proposal has been posted at the Whitecaps FC website:

is it just me, or is that a new building development south of the stadium (to the left of the SeaBus terminal and to the right of CP Station)?

older renderings

Interesting renders, I still prefer the old location where the seabus terminal currently is. This location will be much cheaper to build though as much less piling involved.

Hmm also looks like Canada Place Way will continue infront of 200 Granville and wrap around to Richards St in that rendering.

^ for sure, there's no way it'll cost $60 million. looking at how much the current convention centre cost is, i'd say upwards of $150 million.

Re: Whitecaps stadium.

Build it already!

On another note, should the high Canadian dollar help bring construction materials costs under control? I'm thinking of the cost of importing steel in particular.

It doesn't look like this plan includes going over the train tracks, with this new location if they built over the tracks the whole thing could be on existing land...

Agree with squeezied - just looks out-of-place in relation to downtown.

it's all a matter of getting used to... that's what ppl said for BC Place: now, when we remove it, ppl say our downtown will look even more weird =P

Looks like there will be some positive development in the WCS (or at least i hope)

No idea. Our dollar is high in comparison to the US dollar, but as for comparing it to other places like China...

Re: Whitecaps stadium. I like it. This new location addresses the matter of being over the tracks (although that was mostly a red herring devised by the Nimbies), and the logistical headaches related to building over the Seabus terminal.

Now it's time to build it!!
