I think this rendering of the new 'One Central Park East' in Phoenix, which is using a facade that is very similar to our soon-to-be constructed Court's Complex, might actually give us a better feel than what we have seen to this point. Many have stated it would be nice if the Salt Lake Complex would add more floors and get away from the cube dimension. This would be an axample of that wish.

I don't see why we should really be comparing the two. The pheonix one is a lot taller so it doesn't look as much of a cube. The Salt Lake one is about as tall as it is wide.

When I first saw that rendering of that tower in Phoenix I about jump out of my seat thinking this was something we were getting for Downtown Salt Lake. But then I read the heading.

In other words, I was trying to say that I like the Phoenix rendering of a much similar skin. The exterior RENDERING of said Phoenix, is more readily understood.

As you've all probably read lately the big move is on into the new IHC Medical Center. I spent a day this past week there and was very impressed with the over-all design of the campus. The views of the Metro Wasatch looking out from the east-facing, large windows throughout the campus, are particularly stunning

The Salt Lake Courts "Borg" Cube is an obvious attempt to get the most floor space for the least amount of money. This is a visual assault by budget which will go on for decades. Paradoxically, they don't seem to know a crime when they see it.

Although it does have an intimidation factor: I mean, I wouldn't want to go on trial in a borg cube.

And the Borg Queen is hot.

Have we heard if the existing court building on Main Street is going to be preserved, or if it'll be torn down after the new building is completed? I'm still fuzzy on some of those details.

The existing court building will remain and will be remodeled, the new building is an addition to the current building.

Excellent pics as always T-Mac, I'm going to be up there tomorrow and want to take a closer look at that stone on the Library. I'm the type who goes right up and gives the madder a flick with my finger to see if its real. Hmmm, the quality does look exceptional from your pic though. I'm also very curious about what they're doing with the facade of the Gateway 5. Looks like they are applying some attractive detailing. I hope so, I can't wait to take a closer look tomorrow.

Man, I'm really curious as to what there doing on the exterior of this building. I had thought they were going to give us nothing but plain old stucco. Has anyone noticed it yet up close?

Oh, and don't forget,Thursday is the big day for the Grand Opening(general public) of the best cheescake this side of New York

So that's the awkward-looking lean-to they've built outside Fashion Place?

Hopefully it'll do gangbusters and they'll put that second location inside CCC. I don't ever plan on eating there, from the mediocre reviews I've read, but it sounds like a lot of other people are excited about it.

The City Council makes most decisions as far as what developments are allowed in our city. District four covers downtown Salt Lake City and everything east--between South Temple and 900 South--up to the University

I heard the latest on The Vantage Tower. I was told that things arent looking good for the project. As of right now it is canceled. I asked the location of the project, but they wouldn't tell me where it was. They are looking for an interested buyer for the parcel. So, basically I'd scratch this one of the list for awhile. But something better may come in its place, who knows.

Breaks my heart every time I hear news about a project that gets canceled. And I was looking forward to learn about this tower and where it could of gone.

I hope something better comes in it's place.
