I asked my pastor (at my Methodist church in Long Beach) not long ago, and she also said the project is definitely not stalled.

I had a rented Canon 5D and some very nice glass for a commercial shoot and was able to snap off a couple shots today before returning it. So the shots are much larger and crisper than usual. Moral of the story, colemonkee needs to start selling crack to feed his photography habit. But on to the 'scrapers...

Hanover Tower looks decent from the front...

...but average at best from the back.

Nice shots, Colemonkee. Oh man, a Canon 5D - my dream camera. Photography equipment is so friggin' expensive. I'm nickle and diming to get a new wide angle lens for my Canon.

Might that be the beginnings of the smaller building of Concerto?

^ Correct. Those are columns for the smaller 6 or 8 story building at Concerto. I tried to get in there and get some pics of Concerto, but they were moving heavy equipment around and promptly told me to cross the street.

friday, nice shot of Pastagina. Has anyone tried it yet?

here is a picture I took from the fourth street bridge last week. Not sure what it means, but they have not been there for very long.

^ That picture suggests to me that Metro has taken custody of the Angels Flight cars.

They've been threatening to take over the project for some time now. Maybe they've decided to make good on their threat.

Take a look at colemonkee's photo.

By colemonkee

Notice the parking structure behind the NOKIA theatre and how it's sporting that glass (?) with the various shades of blue. Might that be a taste of what kind of glass the Ritz will get?

Has anyone heard of this project. Looks very interesting.

Hello, shiny fellow: Check out this mixed-use hotel/condo tower coming to 1233 Hope Street, near the Staples Center. Still in the planning stages, according to architect Jay Vanos, who designed the tower--currently known as the Miracle of Hope--the project is about 40 stories, and will have a hotel, condos, a restaurant, health club, and retail. More juicy renderings--rooftop lawn chairs, anyone?--after the jump.

really? i like. loads better than hanover. IT's just a shitty rendering I think. but yes, more curvature and glass, and less stucco and boxes.

if it had more retail instead of those solid walls on two sides, then i would love to see it getting built. i like those sticks and all that glass. boring it is not.

You didn't mention something that's just as important for this proposal or any other in the hood: it probably either will never see the light of day or may finally be fully funded & have qualified contractors signed up to work on it by the year.....2030.

Meanwhile, the wait continues for groundbreaking on the site of the LA central proj, the Medallion moving past the preparation stage, & the Grand Ave proj finally forcing the demolition of the parking structure across from Disney Hall.

It's hard to tell what it's actually going to look like from these renderings. Horrible name, though, maybe they'll take a tip from 300 and change it to Jesus Christ Lofts, but we can only hope. Like the roof swimming pool, though. Seems like they kinda over did it with incorporating the trees in every open part of the building.

OTOH, I read a blog that suggests the new Pinkberry on 2nd St in LT is taking away some of the steam from a nearby competitor.

Whether there's room for all the new businesses or not, the hood still could use the boost from the opening of a lot more new apt & condo projs. Next up are the Mura condos, then the Artisan apts, & then Related's apt bldg on San Pedro St.
