yeah thats gotta be it, but it looks strange in person too. I past it everyday on my way home and the sloped ramps looks like some kind of construction mistake.

Steely - When you say "jump the crane," do you mean that they will soon increase its height with the addition of several stories of new sections?

Clark is also sloped at this point - coming down from the bridge and upper Wacker. This is apparent in the RR Donnelly (sp ?) building across the street.

I have given up trying to get my morning shots straight, they all look tilted.

The curvature of the front facade is now visibly defined by the floorplates, if anyone hasn't noticed. All I can say is that it's very, very subtle.

I think that the straps are cast into the concrete and used as anchors for safety lines. When the lines are no longer needed, the straps are cut cut off. The end embedded in the concrete remains in there permanently.

^^^ That's correct, I live right next to a highrise under construction and I can see them attaching their pulley safety ropes to the yellow anchor ropes. I suppose that's a good way to make sure the harness it well attached!
