1918 is going to stretch the "big" part of the skyline noticeably if viewed from Queen Anne, based on my guess that it's in the 460-500' range. Think of it as PNB but possibly a little taller, starting at a slightly lower elevation but also farther north. Olive 8 at 460' will too. And West 8th at 393'.

Also, it should be fairly prominent from Lake Union. Not much from West Seattle -- from some viewpoints it'll be behind the Westin and given their elevation they might appear taller from there.

Basically, that part of the Denny Triangle will cease to be an "auxillary" to the CBD, like Belltown or First Hill, and become a full, voting part of the CBD.

Just thinking.

....

yeah someone also said that 7th @ westlake has gone from 32 to 46 floors it was already 426' would it be possible to build anywhere near 600' with variances in that part of town or are they going to have to have significantly smaller floor to floor heights? funny the courthouse use to be the big boy in the denny triangle

I will have to bring my trusty camera's to downtown Seattle soon. Let's hope Greg Nickles removal of height restrictions will grow downtown Seattle's skyline even further south. The Space Needle should have no height protection because the Space Needle is a privately owned corporation. If the city of Seattle owned the space needle, it's a different story. Seattle does own the entire Seattle Center property, which I have always hoped would be converted into one of the nations largest shopping malls. I want Fun Forest moved indoors as well. A guy can dream.

Move-ins have begun (started last month) at Parc Belltown (now known as "The Parc") according to this article from today's Seattle Times. I guess this can be moved to "completed" now.

There is plenty of space still without closing in on what is considered an iconic structure. Don't need to build tall just for the sake of bragging rights. The city is still lacking green spaces that it needs for quality of life issues especially with all the new residents that will be moving dt. There is the big picture to consider..

The city is lacking green space, I don't think that the Seattle Center should be built into a giant mall but instead remodel it.

The Memorial stadium need repairs bad! I was there yesterday and the small floor hanging from the roof looks like it's going to fall and the windows look like they're from the 70's!!

The Space Needle does need height protection because Seattle is known mostly for coffee, parks and green space, and of course The Space Needle. If the height protection is canceled then a whole bunch of real estate companies would want to build condo towers just so rich people can get good vies of the Seattle Center/Space Needle. Besides it's a historic tower, it's like if height restrictions were removed from the Pioneer Square Area!

A better thing to do is make more green space, add a bigger ferris wheel, and just add flowers and trees to parts around the complex to attract more people.

I passed by Mosler Lofts yesterday and I think they topped out already!! The Four Seasons started putting up windows!! Is the whole Four Seasons building going to be covered in glass or just the windows?
Wow. I wrote a lot!!

The Seattle Center should be updated a bit, but fundamentally it's one of the city's best features. It includes an absolutely priceless collection of open space in a downtown that's seriously lacking in parks.

The first post says 5th and yesler is under construction(for real?) and the new stewart and minor rendering not only looks better....but taller, and two more fourty story buildings have been proposed, and there's rumors of 7th and Westlake getting stretched to 46 stories.......

-------------1903 Fifth?-------------

I found these renderings on Ismael Leyva's site. According to Emporis they're partnering with Bumgardner on 1903 fifth, and this is the only Seattle building on their site. Could this be it? If so, best in Seattle if you ask me.

Here's the site http://www.ilarch.com/ go to projects and then Seattle under (in Progress) on the left to see the other renderings.

hmm... I get a New York Times feeling with this building! It's nice but way too pointy. Looks like this project gets closer and closer to being real every day.
It's time for Seattle to get a Ritz!! Carlton!!

Oh, I also noticed that 1521 started construction on the residential floors so from now on we'll see it go up fast.

Yeah, I think so, the monorail in front is the givaway. This would be right in front of the Westin. I can't say I mind, and I love the the sharpness, It'll really add some variety to the skyline not to mention some real height to the North.

Well guess what? From UrbanSteriod's link they had a few more renderings - at least of the base.

This thing has lots of razzle-dazzle! But that in itself gives me this fear that the design review process will tone it down. I hope I'm wrong.

Very nice. I agree on the razzle dazzle, and would even say it is not really my favorite style. That said, I hope it still gets built like that as it is so different from anything else out there that has been built or proposed. Seatte could use something like this!

Oh, and for 7th and Westlake, it is 45-stories per their current application:
