mmmmmmmmm....I always thought that the new LDS church library building would have 5 floors, but it looks like it will only have 4-floors?

It looks like 4 floors above ground and I would then guess 1 underground floor.

sorry to drip on the forum with my juice of longing, but I always hoped that the church would have made the church history, family history, church museum history thing all the same building. It would have been like 12 stories which would look awesome at that site right across from the conference center. and temple sqaure, and it would free up those lots on west temple which are prime locations for towers. .. Just another project I add to my "I wish" and "some day" list for downtown.

In the rendering the library is kind of a cream color. I had thought it was going to be the same granite-gray as the conference center. Does anyone know for sure?

Yeah, it looks like it does have a little bit of a cream color to it in that rendering.

I found these images on the architect's website. I don't think it looks as cream in them:

Yeah Gbb, I imagine it will follow the same granite-stone-pattern as the surrounding LDS campus. It's an attractive addition to that area and will certainly go a long way in improving the feel of that section of No.Temple. With the nice parks on State, this kind of complete's the upgrade of that section of downtown,(east of West Temple.) Well, that is except for the reclad of COB.

Does anyone have any insight as to the streetscaping for this building? Specifically, will they also have City Creek running above ground along No. Temple, as they do in front of the Conference Center? I really like that feature, and know a lot of my out-of-town friends are always very impressed with that.

I was up in Holladay today. I took the 4500 so. exit and was glad to see a very welcome sight. The city of Murray has made a big effort in cleaning up that whole 4500 south corridor from I-15 to State Street. They've landscaped and also placed the attractive stone that is so popular now along the street. I've been hoping they would do something like that.

A construction crew has put up a wooden walkway to protect people outside the Claimjumper on Main Street, a signal that major work on the historic building is looming.

No official announcements, but a lot of founded rumor and speculation; possibly after CCC is finished so that it all "fits in."

my wife will be happy about that one, and very happy if west elm ends up coming to trolley as well.

Seems to me like trolley will be a very nice place to shop when all is said and done. I don't know why they are waiting a year to start on the wholefoods building though. There is a decent chance that I'll be leaving Utah in about 3 years just before all the big projects are finishing up which makes me sad. Oh well, I can always come back to visit fam and friends.

If you notice the only thing in the image that is an artist rendering is the new building. Everything else is an actual photo, so whoever happened to be driving on N. Temple at that moment the picture was taken will live on in this artists picture/rendering.

SLCforme, do you have an idea yet where you will be moving to?

not yet. It's just that I'll be finishing grad school withing 3 years (hopefully) so I'll be looking for a post-doc position or a job somewhere. It looks good in my line of work if you don't stay at the same university for a post-doc so I'll likely be moving. Of course if I were to land a really good job without having to do a post-doc then I'd be all for that; and staying here would definitely be an option.

I guess I'll just say that odds are I'll be moving, but one never knows what the future may bring.
