Another floor has been added to the core.

No "Jumper" or bracing on the E crane yet.

A few images from August 16th.

Looking over the fence (totally legal)

View of raker beams as seen from lower LaSalle (totally legal as I was visiting the construction trailer)

Not sure if these have been posted before...I don't feel like looking, so I will post the link. The website has PDF's of a stacking diagram and some floor plan layouts. If you click on the "amenities" link, there is a diagram of the lobby amenities.

The Indians

Never noticed the Native Americans on the Merchandise Mart before, the effect is even more striking through binoculars.

The details of the Mart will be nice when view from the relatively close 300 N LaSalle

really now... is it possible that they're doing some sort of core/outrigger with steel-structure outrigger instead of concrete pillars?

I think that's a pretty superficial statement. The structure for WTC and 300 N are significantly different (more than just putting a "cement" middle in)
The World Trade centers were steel "tube" systems with a floor system consisting joists running from interior columns to the closely spaced exterior columns.

300 N uses a concrete core wall for lateral stiffness and a fairly traditional steel gravity system.

very, very different.

Not very, but I can see what you mean. The way it is going up, in lamest terms for the simple folk, is with a strong interior "base" with a steel exterior.

Jump section

From yesterday - looks like the parts for the "jump section" of the S crane have started arriving, I was told these are brand new cranes straight from France.

Yeah, a few years ago I wouldn't know a thing about construction, but know I am well informed.

Great shots
