1. Mystery Tower 450+ feet
Little is known about this tower. Believed to be Office Space on 100 South and Main Street. Looks to be a new tallest.
2. Cowboy Partner Tower 1 Around 400 feet.
A mix use of housing and office space on state street and 100 South. Also looks to be a new tallest or one of the new tallest if the Mystery tower gets built.
3. Wasatch Partner Tower 1 400 feet?
A vision Office tower on the corner of 400 South and State Street. Not too much is known about this tower yet.
4. CCC Tower 1 380 feet 32-floors.
Soon to be the 3rd tallest building and the tallest housing tower in Salt Lake City. To be built on South and West Temple where the old Inn at Temple Square used to be. Right now crews are bigging out the hole for the underground parking.
5. World Trade Center Utah Tower Feet unknown, Around 25-floors
A Vision World Trade Center Utah Tower on the corner of State and 200 South where the Carls Jr is now. Planning is moving along and we could start to see rendering real soon.
6. Wasatch Partner Tower 2 300-350 feet
A 2nd vision Office tower on the corner of 400 South and State Street.
7. 222 South Main Tower 315 feet 21-stories
The First office tower in downtown salt lake city in 10 years. 222 South Main street just across the street from the Wells Fargo Center. Ground will break on August 28th.
8. CCC Tower 2 253 feet 19 floors
2nd Housing tower with the City Creek Center Project. 100 South and 50 West.
9. Cowboy Partner Tower 2. 250 feet 17-stories?
2nd Housing tower planned by Cowboy Partners. 100 South 200 East. Ground should break next year on both of their towers.
10. CCC Tower 5 12-stories, but could be taller.
Another Housing tower on the City Creek Center on South Temple next to Zion Bank Tower.
11. CCC Tower 7 135 feet 10-floors
East side housing building to go in front of Temple Square.
12. CCC Tower 6 135 feet 10-floors
West side housing building to go in front of Temple Square on South Temple.
13. Metro Park West 8-stories
A west side housing project near the Gateway Mall.
14. Broadway Lofts 8-stories
A west side housing project near the Gateway Mall.


There you have it. There are alot more projects that are under 8-stories. But this gives us a feel of how much the Salt Lake City Skyline could change in five years.

RDA property

located on state street and 250 south roughly
Right now they are in the process of seeking RFPs for a mixed use development including office and residential.
Early mass models showed two 180 foot twin towers. I would bet that we see atleast that much height on the site.

Also another RDA property located at 900 south and 150 west.

They are seeking RFPs for a high density mixed use development. We should see atleast 6-8 stories here.

Vantage Tower
12 stories of urban luxury living.Location unknown. Will be located "in the heart of downtown"



US federal courthouse expansion
10 stories. The USGA is currently seeking bids to move the oddfellows building in site preparation.


Gateway Office Buildings
Boyer is looking at the possibility of adding two 8 story towers and a 6 story hotel to the north end of the gateway where the parking lot currrently sits. Bids are currently being taken on the hotel project. I bet we see these office buildings start construction as soon as the other office building on the south end of the gateway finishes up.

Tried to keep the list to anything that I knew of over 8 stories.

I would love to see the two proposed Wasatch towers on 400 S and State along with the two proposed towers on 250 S and State (although not substantially tall, still taller than the current 3 stories that are there, I think twins here would really complete that side of the road with the Broadway tower on one corner and the Park Plaza? tower on the north corner). Those four new buildings as well as the WTC Utah on 200 S and State and the Cowboy on 100 S and State would really give State street a substantially increased urban/metro feel to it. Imagine two parallel streets Main & State that both are flanked on both sides with decent height towers, from 400 S to S. Temple. State street would be a fantastic street and I think the increase in tall buildings would make the street seem more narrow, which would help with the urban feel of downtown.

Those six buildings, not to mention CCC towers 1, 2 and the mystery tower will drastically change the skyline of our beloved city. WOW!

Just thinking about it makes me drool.

On the subject of the new Federal Courthouse, do you know where they are planning on moving the Oddfellows building? Also is the historic hotel that houses Port O'call a definite no keeper? ... I find it hard to imagine they would need that much room for the tower, I mean that site is soo big. They would need to make it 30 stories wide to take up all that space, are they planning on having landscaped grounds or something? Hopefully not surface parking.

I think I heard something about them wanting to move Port due to security issues that close to the court house. Sounds pretty lame to me. I know there was a proposal at one point to move Port across the street to the south, but we know that won't fly because that block is owned by Earl Holdings. I think it would be a shame to lose a great looking older building just for a new federal court house. No need to take up the entire block. I would rather see them go up a couple of floors and leave Port where it is. I honestly think it would make it look better, having the old and the new on the same block. Imagine how much different the Gallivan block would look with out the remodeled Brooks Arcade (alphagraphics) building there. I think that is a great block with the Wells Fargo, One Utah, Gallivan, and Marriott (all new) right in harmony with a old and new Brooks Arcade building.

KEEP THE PORT O CALL BUILDING! I think we need to start a petition drive to save it and to leave it right were it is.

The courthouse
The site will be three acres and encompass the entire block between 300 and 400 South and Main Street and West Temple. It will be 367,188 square feet and include nine district and five magistrate courtrooms with chambers and office support spaces. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2009 and to be completed in 2011.

I think its pretty stupid that we'd be moving or demolishing historic buildings to expand the courthouse, when just across the street from the site is a 10-acre surface parking lot that could easily be used for the expansion. Our old friend Earl has had years to do something else with the site and since he doesn't seem to be interested in developing anything but parking downtown, let the gov't take it from him and do something useful with it instead.

According to information printed in the past, the entire reason for removing the buildings on the courthouse block is security. They've gotten kind of crazy about it. However the building would look very stately on an entire block with all that space around it. They considered many sites and this is what they settled on. Nobody is talking about the way it looks: a big blank cube. I'd say it's a huge architectural leap backwards. It resembles that much-hated addition to the Qwest building on First South next to the ZCMI center. Of course getting a new design approved would take more decades.

The city used a eminent domain for him, except when flower patch fought back. So maybe it's time to use eminent domain against him. Although the parking lot is landscaped I still find surface lots offensive and to me that is blight. I would rather keep the odd fellows and port where they are at and not have the court house rather than lose the building Port is in. I'm tying to remember the name of it, but can't think of it right now.

I think I'll e-mail my council rep and have a discussion about this, hopefully it's not to late.

I think it must be a misprint that the new federal courthouse will take the entire block from 300 to 400 S.. Market street bisects that block at about 350 S. so it would have to straddle the street or close it and would kill those eateries north of marketstreet including the melting pot and takashi. I just don't think that is the case, so it's really only taking half a block. But still it doesn't need to kill port o call, that is a pretty cool old building and probably the most happening bar in the city.

You're right SLCforme, it is only the southern half of the block between Market and 400 S. I can see how people would mistake it for an entire block, we aren't used to streets down the middle of our blocks so it seems like the southern half is an entire block!
