This has been discussed before but the condo ceiling height will be 8'6" Probably one of the lowest ceiling heights of any new construction, certainly any "luxury" project. But then again, their not selling at price points of other luxury projects.

Those are the concrete forms, the black is (probably) no stick surface.

This one sure is going quickly compared to Waterview. I guess it's because of the lack of underground parking at Aqua.

Anyone know when we'll be able to see the first hints of the undulating balconies taking shape? Before the year is over perhaps?

Yea, as Harry said, those are concrete forms. Rebar is then placed on top of the forms and welded to the columns for that level and then concrete is then poured on top of the rebar forming the new level.

The first curved balconies should start to show up around the end of the year. They are a little ahead of schedule on the tower right now.

....I was looking at the building to the right ....I know that the top floor (street level) is the fire station....but what are the 3 floors below it ? ...part of the Com Ed station ? ....also, I never knew the fire station had a green roof....

jjk1103, those levels below the fire station are a portion of the parking garage for 3 Illiniois Center

Tied (with wire) or bolted - I've only seen the bolts used on the vertical rebar.

Ok - so I was checking out the site on Friday, and I saw something that is also reflected in EarlyBuyer's new photos above - they have begun to erect what looks exactly like the base of a blue mini-tower crane just to the north of the red tower crane. Seemed unusual to me. Does anyone know what this is? Horio perhaps?

Wow that is some massive rebar. Does anyone know the size of it and is that vertical rebar only?

Looks to me like it has something to do with concrete pumping. . . that or an elevated platform to survey the site. . . whatever it is I don't see how or why it would have anything to do with lifting. . .

Horio said earlier that it is #20 bar. It is for the main reinforcement in the major columns.
