Thanks BVic. I think the curtain wall will look awesome. I cant make up my mind though about what I think about what was described earlier as the "battleship grey" color of the window framing. I love the glass and everything else that has been commented on.
now that I see that nighttime render again, it looks like the stone veneer maybe stops well under the crown.
If so that could really make the top appear translucent
wowza, things are really looking good at this site! Last time i was there, the only thing you could see from street level was the crane and a hint of concrete, but now its just a hulking mass rising over me. maybe 30 feet up by now? give or take. Its going pretty quickly, and its making me happy
So will the core get smaller after the hotel portion when the building becomes narrower, or just continue to the top? It doesn't look like there would be any room for south-facing units if the core continues with its present dimensions all the way to the top.
^^^ The core becomes much smaller after the building has the wedge removed. Go to the Waterview site and click on the "amenity floor" for the condominiums and then look at some of the floor plans for the condos and you will get a good idea of the size of the core and what it contains.

I heard from one of the workers (he looked like a supervisor) that the hotel portion would be done by late spring 2008. The hotels highest floor is the 27the floor, then there is a mechanical floor, I believe, then the amenities level for the residents on floor 29. After that, it shoots up more quickly.
^I think that it'll get alot more attention as it rises out of the ground. Because this thing took so long to get out of that hole, it sort of stagnated interest, but it will certainly pick up; probably at the same rate that the tower rises.

I think it looks pretty darn nice now that I can see the full assembly. Much applauded is the texture in the facade by mounting some glass flush and some recessed; also in the two different spandrels. Cool. The operable window looks a bit off, but oh well.
I'm still a little selfishly grumpy after learning that Shangri-La hired Norman Foster to do their NY building, so this is a nice thing to see.
I saw that - could be an amazing building. I love Waterview Tower but hmmmm - NY gets Foster for their Shangri-La tower, we get Tom Hoepf....not quite parity I'd say
