Does anyone know how they will keep the angled sides clean? The glass they are using does not look good when dirty, and the angled parts have the potential to become VERY dirty. Does the unique shape of the tower require custom window cleaning machinery? Walking by BoA this morning, these random thoughts popped into my head.

I like the stone wall that will form the rear wall of the lobby. It is a nice counterpoint to the glass. What do you all think of it (Carlos has posted pics of it in the recent past).

here it is...I love it...i am sure the cleaning gondolas will do a fine job keeping the glass clean.

Interestingly, I have read on this thread that this is a concrete core building, but that the ironworkers or the union insists that the core be built behind the steel. But I came across this, and it seems that the core following steel is done to < drum roll > save money and time.

Here is the article. 7 WTC was also done the same way.

Unlike most New York City high-rises, the steel will lead core construction. This strategy was developed by Severud in the 1970s, but never implemented in New York until recently, says DePaola.

The construction manager selected the approach because frame construction is about one-third quicker, says Joseph L. Ross, executive vice president of Tishman Construction Corp. of New York. Tishman also is using the approach on Seven WTC and says the strategy relies on the use of climbing forms, which allow the core to keep pace with the steel.

dont get me wrong this is a beautiful building, i really love the design n all

but i dont get the "pole" sticking out of it from the top that suppose to be a spire.

a real spire is something like on 1 Liberty Place, or the Chrslyer Building

this pole is just an excuse to get to 1000 feet, but in reality the building is really 940 something

This is a nice building. But any way you slice it, 400+ feet of unoccupiable height does not sound very good. It seems to be a trend though.

Thank you for that original comment. I never heard anything so fresh and full of insight.

Do tell, what epiphany do you wish to share with us over the fact that, to the rest of the world, 1,000 feet is just 303 meters or so? Does it mean 1,000feet is a meaningless number?

shoulda said the pole is just an excuse to get to 1200 feet, would that have been better.

anyway.

For me, the height is not even the issue here, its the design of building. i love the rest of the building. its the issue of them putting a stick on the top when they could have probably substituted that "spire" with more floors and a better design at the top. id rather see the roof or a real spire that extends up to or closer to 1200ft. its just my opinon.
