^ Since you're both new to this forum, not sure what to make of your comments. IOW, how accurate are they? if someone you know was supposed to have visited the sales ctr in the Gas Co tower, how could he or she have done that if the ctr isn't even open yet?

The devlpr originally said the proj would breakground in Oct of this yr. Then they said first qtr of 2008, which would mean any date from between Jan to March. Their sales ctr also was supposed to have been opened by now. Parkfifth's web site now says it will open in fall.

What's going on with parkfifth's billboard is anyone's guess. But I'd say colemonkee's theory about violations of sign ordinances makes about as much sense as any. If so, I hope the devlpr can get around it, since that type of billboard would actually improve the current parking lot by giving it some promise of a new lease on life.

how do we know what you are saying is true? do you live in downtown, or even LA? If you are so untrusting then I suggest you call the sales center and ask. Or I can take a pic of the folder, floorplans and reservation contract for you if that will ease your pain......

you know you can tell a lot about a forum member by noticing their join date, the number of post, and by reading there previous post before questioning their credibility.

of course you can. but this discussion about park fifth is not some kind of "insider info". Anyone can call the sales cntr and find out it's open or any other info. I'm just trying to contribute some info and it seems as if people think they are being lied to for some reason.......

btw, I've been living in DT for over a year and been living in LA almost all my life. I'm not someone from the Valley or someone who hasn't been to DT trying to troll or tell lies. I've been a long time lurker and looked in here to help me find a place in DT..... I just thought I was able to contribute a lil info, but it looks like that's not needed here........

well then, welcome! I also moved to downtown about a year ago, maybe we live in the same neighborhood? Anyway, I did call and yes, they did open a temporary sales center at the gas co building, by appointment.

You took my post above way too seriously or literally. it's just that forums like this (& there are millions of them out there on the net) are anonymous, & so anyone of them can be taken advantage of by newbies to spam, troll or goof on regular users. furthermore, the RE industry is known to drum up business by spinning things in any number of directions. IOW----& as one example----it wouldn't be beyond the plausible if someone from parkfifth wanted to spread positive rumors about their proj, & used any number of methods to hype things.

You mentioned knowing someone who was going to the parkfifth's sales ctr yesterday, or who possibly had an appointment with them last night, & so I was hoping for some confirmation of what they saw & were told by the salesrep. When you stopped referring to the person you described yesterday, I thought, oh, sheesh, is someone just playing games with everyone? Sorry if that conclusion wasn't correct. It's just that some of these projs, because they're either delayed forever or even cancelled at the last minute----& not even mentioning their being hyped by wrong or inflated info or rumors----have a way of being like practical jokes played on outsiders who are trying to keep track of them.

whew! believe me, the comments from various forumers (inc from lasteph) about billboards, sales ctrs & MOST IMPORTANTLY, figures on early sales or reservations of condos----at least when they're positive stats----are not something I want to misread or misinterpret!

true... I just haven't seen anyone on these forums "goof" on others so I'm not sure where that came from.... but the other poster also said they reserved a unit. anyways k3d confirmed what I said about the sales cntr being opened. Looks like this project is a reality!

well hopefully there won't be any people here trying to "goof" on others so we can have real discussion on news like this!

btw, the sales figures is not from the salesperson but is a guesstimate by looking at the units reserved on the price list..... it could be less, or more...... maybe someone knows the exact number?

I think Lasteph had every right to get upset by that post by citywatch.

From what i've read, citywatch can be very negative and sometimes extremely rude when he talks about L.A.

anyway...thanks lasteph for that info. I requested information for park fifth and only recently recieved a huge envelope of information....i'm in Houston, btw. - one reason I don't contribute much to this forum but very much appreciate others that do.

if you do decide on park fifth, welcome to downtown...... well I wasn't mad, but I thought it was a little rude to blow what we said off just like that. What was said makes it seem he knows all and we are peons type thing.....

I too recently joined the boards, but I read through all the past posts in Volume 1, 2 and 3 of the downtown thread. And I have to say that I was questioning some of the posts about Park 5th (but am very pleased to hear the info has been confirmed.). That said, I have seen where Citywatch has picked up on a few words in a post and correctly exposed a NIMBY getting ready to sell his propaganda in this forum. I see Citywatch as a protector of the thread and very pro-downtown.

Rude?! Are you describing the posts of mine where I mention all those ppl who like to diss LA? They may be rude to the town they're talking about, but that has a whole different meaning when not used in the full context. IOW, just cuz I'm repeating or reposting the words of other ppl doesn't mean I agree with them, or am quoting them to be "rude".

BTW, I don't recall seeing your screen name in many discussions here in the past, so I'm not sure if you're also mistaking me for others who post truly rude comments, inc some of the comments I've seen on other forums like SSC.

How you get that out of the following words is beyond me:

Unless you're the devlpr of parkfifth itself----& even then, who knows?, since devlprs themselves are not exactly above & beyond spinning things (the devlpr of the Glass tower planned for 11th & Grand, as one example, said it was almost certain he'd break ground last April. No such luck.)----how accurate can anyone's info be, esp since the proj hasn't even broken ground yet? Moreover, parkfifth's web site said their sales ctr won't be opening til fall. So if you said you knew someone who was going to visit that sales ctr last night, you don't think I have a right to go "HUH?!, something doesn't make sense here!"

like I said before... what makes you think YOU know more than anyone else here?? If you are that skeptical do what k3d, call for yourself and find out the truth. That way if I was lying you can call me out on that instead of basing everything on YOUR opinions......

TY! As for my skepticism (or suspicion), much of that is because of all the various projs or claims made about them that have a way of falling through or turning out to be inflated. If you've followed the recent story of the Medallion proj at 4th & Main Sts, you know what I mean. BTW, as far as I know, that proj, now going on several wks since its supposed groundbreaking, still is in a wait & see stage.

^ When I saw you post:

"Groundbreaking is March '08
Unofficial count shows about half the units "sold"
They had raised the prices about 10k in 3 days."

I thought, HOLY MOLEY!, that sounds almost too good to be true----although I'm not referring to the start of construction date, which originally was going to be 2 months from now, & so "groundbreaking is..." also would have sounded too good to be true if it had been revised to something like "early Jan 08". So since you didn't mention the source of your info, I wondered if the update you were giving us was, in fact, too good to be true. Again, if I had written something similar----esp, "half the units sold"!, "prices raised 10k in 3 days!"-----I wouldn't hold it against you if you were skeptical where I was coming from.

take it with a grain of salt then.......

I'm pretty sure if I said "park fifth is cancelled!!", you would not question the source but respond like "I knew it, it won't pencil in!! "
