Rats! Heber has been a great hold-out, but it sounds like it's suburbifying. If a city is going to allow itself to turn into suburbs, it needs to preserve land for bypasses, collector roads, and utility corridors.

So far I haven't seen anything of the sort in Heber, and letting Wal-Mart in a sign of much much more to come.

Non Stop to Paris will definitely happen, and if it's next year, that's one year ahead of schedule! They really need to upgrade their international arrivals facility and eventually lengthen the runway.

These guys are talking about what size of plane it will be. Some are even saying to count them in on the inaugural flight, and picking their seat numbers 4a and 2F lol.... man, Aviation nerds you got to love them

More on the new, 'House of O.C.Tanner' this morning

.... Murdock said the company has hired architects to work on the renovation, and they are making some changes based on 100-year-old photos of the original building.
The front stairs likely will be replaced by a more sweeping staircase to match the original, and the water fountain in front of the building — which, coincidentally, was donated by O.C. Tanner when the planetarium first opened — will be removed.

"The Walker Center was originally built in 1911 by the Walker brothers to house their mercantile and growing banking business. It was the tallest building between St. Louis and the West Coast when it was completed in 1912."


That's so cool that at one point Salt Lake City had the tallest building in all the western U.S. Those days are long gone now with cities like L.A., Vegas and Denver with far taller buildings then Salt Lake. For Salt Lake to reclaim the title of having the tallest building we would have to build a 90+ story office building. ( Only in my dreams. )


But all in all I do love the Walker building and am glad the owners are fixing it up and giving the building upgrades.

I am losing hope that Salt Lake will ever get anything above the 40 story mark.

I know that to have obsessed over the thought of having the plus 40 story towers popping up downtown. Yet again i am brought back to remember cities like Vancouver British Columbia. I am planning a trip right now to visit up that direction and so naturally i looked at its buildings. Amazingly enough Vancouver really does stay around the 30 mark on its new and older buildings. Yes there are a couple that go over that mark however the point is they still are one of the most dense cities in North America and over anything that is what i want for SLC to be a dense city - creating more night life and a greater city feel!
